60 inch howse question

I have found a 60 inch howse mower that i would say is 15 years old. Paint is gone but the body is in good shape not dents or anything. Guy wants $650 for it. I think this seems high but wondering what some of you all thought.

I have a Kubota B2620 do you think this is too much mower for it. I dont have heavy weeds or grass here, pretty light mowing.

What soundguy said, $150.00 at the most. you can find something new for less than $800.00, or try creigs list. for used.

i've bought plenty of 0-5yr old howse and KK 5' mowers under 200$ in otherwise good condition, just needing -very- minor repairs.. etc.

have gotten a hd old late 70's era 6' servis for free... needed some welding.. but cuts fine.. and is heavy like a tank...

A brand new 5ft Howse bush hog can be bought for about $725 around here.

I bought my 72" King Kutter brand new 3 years ago for $725 on sale.

Full list price on that mower is $900. I doubt it was more than $650 brand new 15 years ago.

The starting price for good used equipment is 50% of new. 15 years stored outside is a significant detractor.


Your 26hp tractor should run a 5' mower no problems for light mowing.

Are you talking about a finish mower, or a rotary cutter. Either way that is high for a used unit. I see the guy wanting more if it is a used finish mower. I got the Howse rotary cutter on sale for $734.00 + a 5% coupon.

I would diffidently be doing more searching if you want to go used. If you go used make sure they are willing to put the unit to a test for you other then just hooking up to a tractor. A bad used rotary cutter can still spin the blades sitting still, but will tell a different story under a load.

That is high.
That is the way it is when you are looking for something used. I looked for 4 months and could never find one at a reasonable price. Finally bought a new 5foot Kodiak (725 delivered) from my local Farm supply. Don't get me wrong, I really like it. However, now I seem to stumble on a good used cutter for 200 -300 every other week !
