I've got 950hrs on my JD. No pending issues.

It'll probly wear me out. :)

Now at 69, I purchased a Toro Titan 60 inch with MyRide to replace the aging Deines. No more dreading the mowing, now I look forward to the task. Can't think of any reason to mow with my tractor. Bush hog and flail jobs are tractor stuff.

hour and a half divided by 1/6=

The new math? If you were paying me money I'd take that deal. Buying equipment to save time then no.

We have a 7 ft finish mower and a 5 ft ZTR. No way the ZTR is faster or can handle the pasture and orchard terrain. Oh, then there's the A/C...

With a 2 foot cutting difference what an accomplishment. Get a 7 foot ZT or a 5 foot finish mower and see which is faster.

If you want to save time get a commercial ZTR. I went from a 72" 3PH deck on the tractor to a 60" ZTR and I cut in about about 1/4 the time.

Interesting stuff here. Going by what's been posted, I could use Mike's ZT and mow at the rate of 7-1/2 minutes per acre. Todd reports something that sounds like something I'd expect. And I'm not sure why the extra 2' of width matters so much if the zeros can mow 4X as fast:)

I know for a FACT my 35HP, 72" zero turn will out mow my tractor with 84" rear finish mower by a good bit on the same lawn.
(Cuts my 8 acre lawn over an hour faster than my tractor)

If the yard was pretty small or had tons of stuff in the way I wouldn’t be surprised if the ZT did win by a 4x margin.

Most of the time people throw out figures based on guesses, gut feelings, impressions or something they've read on the internet (so that must certainly be true:)). Back in post# 22 I reported the actual time it took to mow our 3-1/2 acres with the 90" deck. It was 16 minutes/acre for a property with a couple sheds, some trees, banks and a creek. With the 6' deck it took another 4 or 5 minutes per acre longer.

To have someone flat out claim a ZT mows at 1/4 of the time it takes for an RFM without any explanation isn't very helpful. It only adds to the fake news found on the net that could mislead shoppers. People come to this site and others to make purchasing decisions on equipment they may have never used. We owe them the benefit of hearing about our actual experiences so they can spend their hard-earned dollars wisely. There MAY be possible for someone to "git 'er done" in much less time using one piece of equipment instead of another. Without describing the parameters a blank statement of "1/4 of the time" tells me I could mow at the rate of as quickly as 4 minutes per acre by switching to a ZT. Bravo Sierra:)

I agree. Biggest detail often left out is the type of terrain being mowed.
