Tiller 600$ Less? huh?

Ok, I called my local TSC to inquire about a 72 in. CountryLine Tiller. She told me they'd have one in early next week. I gave her the sku # and she said it's the same model as the one online I was looking at. The online price is 1,999.99. She said the local TSC price for the exact same item is 1399.99. What gives? I hope there is no mix up.

Well, I called another TSC store just to make sure of the price. He confirmed my local store price was correct (1399.99). I'm just trying to figure out why their online price was so much higher. I almost decided not to buy one this year because of the 1999.00 price I read on the website.

That's what I was thinking too, but it's not the case. Their website says the item is "Availability: In Stores Only".

Maybe it's a regional thing or maybe they aren't keeping up on their internet prices? Mine won't be in until next week but I checked a store in Indiana and it's the same price there. (1399.99)

I believe I'd go ahead and get it. They are 1850 her in SC at my local TSC. I'm holding out on buying one because I need a couple other implements right now, but I'd jump on it for that.

I bought a sprayer that TSC was having a sale on but did not have any in stock. They were expecting a shipment after the sale ended, but they let me buy one at the sale price. They called me when the shipment came in. Even though TSC is a chain, the people working there are local second job farmers and horse people.

I guess that's one nice thing about where we live then. I picked mine up Saturday for 1,399.99. It's still sitting in the pickup truck since it rained all day yesterday. It's supposed to be dry and sunny all week so I'll probably wait till next Sat. to assemble it. The ground is still partially frozen and really soaked right now.

I'm planning on buying a grass catcher next so we can spread grass on the garden to keep the weeds down.

This thread is not confusing but contacting TSC has got me confused. In Western Pa the 212712125 72 inch tiller in the blue book is 1999.00, In Ohio (about 15 miles to the store from me)it is 1899.00 same tiller. So I decided to call a store by Columbus Ohio,about a 3 1/2 hour drive,but to save 600 .00 worth it. They quoted me 1899.00. I told them that the same tiller the OP bought was going for 1399.00. They said the # in the book was for a King Cutter not a County Line and it was a miss print,that the 1399.00 tiller is a County Line and that the # in the book is for a King Cutter and that one is 1899.00. They said the County Line was cheaper made,but I thought the last time I looked at one in the store it had County Line on it and it said made by King Cutter. Either I am being blown smoke or there are 2 different tillers,possibly both made by King Cutter. One is built cheaper then the other,according to them. I got this info from the Circleville Ohio TSC store.

Well, I live in northern Kershaw County so I'd say I'm pretty close to wherever your farm is. I actually stay just East of the town of Kershaw in the Buffalo community. I go to Camden quite a bit but work in Lancaster.

I picked up a 60" when they were on sale for 100 less a couple of weeks ago, equalled 1459 at my local tsc. When I looked at the tillers they had, 2 countyline and 2 king kutters, they were exactly the same except for the stickers and the countyline had an aluminum stand. The king kutters they had didn't have a stand like in the below picture. They even had the same model number on them.

The countyline looked exactly like this except for the KK stickers:

Even though I paid for a KK the guy told me I could take whichever one I wanted.

It's listed as Countyline & 1999.99. So they're saying that's a miss print online?

It's the same sku in my local store: I'm going to look a little more closely now, this is interesting.

If there is a difference, I would choose the cheaper model anyway considering the number of hours I will use it.

Ok, I figured it out. I just got home and looked at the tiller. It's still in the shipping crate in my pickup.

This tiller is made by Tarter Industries. Tarter Farm & Ranch Equipment - manufacturer of farm and small animal equipment

It doesn't say Countyline anywhere on it. The SKU is the same as the TSC website but it's not the same tiller.

Tarter Industries doesn't list a 6ft. tiller on their website (only a 5 footer).

I like the price and I won't be putting many hours on it. I just hope it's not junk.

I'm not taking it back. I'll give an update after I use it.

It sounds lke they plan to give King Kutter and others some stiff competition.
