Mowing 62D mower on 2320 wont cut higher than 3"

I shortened the length of the replacement deck hanger not the lifting arm. The offset in the lifting arm did not allow the hanger bracket to be adjusted enough to lift the deck without binding and damaging the threaded end of the bracket.

Glad to see you are up and going.

Thanks, I am now happy with my 62D, it cuts great. It is a little noisier than my old 2305 and 54D. I still havent got any answers from John Deere corporate or my Dealer. I am glad I could bring it back to "Original Manual Specs", even though JD corporate was warning me not to make any "Modifications". Sometimes I have to question my faith in John Deere.

Now that it is getting hot here in the NE, I decided to raise my deck from 2 1/2" to 3", cant do it, the next step in the knob is in 1/4" increment, so I get 2 3/4", the next step increment is over an inch. So it goes from 2 1/2" - 2 3/4" - 4"! It never ends with this deck! I have thought about this for a while and I think if I extend the "Tab" that contacts the "Cam" on the mower height knob, I can get the 2 1/2" height in the Middle (Straight ahead) knob position. This is how it was on my 2305 with 54D. That way I will have 1/2" increments under and over the 2 1/2" center position. I am going to remove the floor pan and take a look and experiment with adding certain size shims under the "Tab" to see how much lower the deck will go. If I find a suitable length, I will have my machine shop extend the tab by that amount. I will of course have to now lengthen the lifting arm to get the full rotation of the knob, but I can because I added the threads to it.. Whew!

Personally i would cut it at 4"... It will look just as even, but just be healthier for the grass..

Okay, but that is not the point here.

Man VP that would drive me nuts with the height constantly fluxuating. Wonder why they (JD) didn't do it the way it is with the 2520. Rockshaft lever with that simple little stop. It never changes. Stops at the same place every time.:)

The height doesnt randomly change, it is just not linear, 2 1/2" is one notch before the high setting on the knob, the next setting is 2 3/4", then the next setting is 4". See the inconsistency?
I wondered how well the 2520 lift works. Well I already considered using the 3PH lever to set height, but the throw is only about 3 numbers. 6 is lowest and 9 is highest, no good, the action is too sensitive. Now if 1 was lowest and 10 was highest that would make more sense. It is just a bad design, there is a reason they made changes to the linkages so you cant attempt adjustments, so far "Mum is the word" from John Deere.

VP,so you're saying that you have what would be considered "preset" heights? You can't do anything in between the 2 3/4"- 4" settings?

I wondered how well the 2520 lift works

IMO,it works very well. It is basically infinite. From the ground all the way up, I can move it in 1/8" increments if I wanted to.:)

Yes I can go lower than 2 1/2", but higher I only have 2 3/4" and then 4". You are lucky that yours is so adjustable. You have the 2520, correct? You dont have this knob that doesnt work as it should.

The way I took it when I ordered mine, you can get either independent lift or rocker arm lift on the 2520's.
