JD 6300 in tank pump only runs when switch is under spring pressure when almost fully in the start position - just before and maybe during full start cycle. I can't tell for sure if pump is running when starter has engaged because I can't hear the pump while starter is turning. I am dealing with multiple issues on a tractor that has been off line for over two years.
When the switch is only in the ignition position, the pump does not run. When in ignition position the fuel shut off solenoid is engaged.

Best I can tell from schematic, pump should only receive power from ignition circuit. I am at a loss neutral safety ?

Tractor will not hit. Battery pulls down quickly in start cycle. Seems too quickly. Taking starter for bench test shortly.

Just rebuilt fuse link holder X3 below right side cab. Main Positive cable connections showed heat damage and A&B cable connectors showed heat damage to plastic holders adjacent to positive cable connection points

Even with in-tank pump jumped, fuel flow to injection pump observed, still no detonation observed. Wondering if excessive starter load is shutting down fuel solenoid?

Lost in time and space.

Thanks

Ignition switch? Maybe replace but, fuel shutoff solenoid is energised and ignition terminal is energized at "ignition"
Switch position. So what happens at position just before "st" position? Best I can tell, no new action should take place between ignition position prior to starter engaging when key is held in "st" position.

:welcome: to TBN

been offline for two years
.. meaning what exactly?

Maybe need to get some voltage checks on the power line to the pump to remove some of the mystery, rather than rely on sound.
In addition, check out other voltages to try to isolate the problems. Wish you luck, and hope the starter check goes well.

Others with more knowledge than mine will likely be chiming in for additional help.

Keep adding more details and info as you proceed.. it will help and create interest in solving your problem.

Check if solinoid remains energized in start position ?

I will check solenoid voltage during starter turn and during the phase just before ignition when pump runs. I will also check fuel pump relay. Local dealer just gave me fuel pump relay location ( relay on my schematic is just ID as "relay

Still perplexed as to what powers the tank pump only when switch is past ign. Postion and just before starter kicks? Maybe back some sort of back feed or by design and I just don't get it.

Thank you

I feel I deserve some sort of recognition from John Deere for getting the starter nuts back on. Maybe a medal and short reception.

I am now getting a flashing caution and stop symbols on the dash when the key is in the on position.
