And THAT, I'm afraid is why modern tractors won't live long! And your tractor isn't even full of computers.

Anyway, as they say, And that is the rest of the story.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Hard to find the problem with all those possible variables.

I am thinking it is the injection pump. What else could it be? I want to pull the pump. Has anyone pulled one of these Luacas Cav pumps? When I take the shaft nut lose from the gear, what is the gear going to do? Fall into the front engine cover os I have to pull the motor. Must be a rare problem because I have not yet found a thread on it.

Sorry I can't be of more help. But I still don't have a sense of what the story behind this tractor is. I have fixed a lot of my stuff as well as other peoples and when it comes to other peoples broken stuff, the story behind it is often and usually more important than the symtoms. Like they say, the headlights don't work, but don't mention the thing was just dragged from the bottom of the lake and nothing else works either, and their cousin has been working on rewiring it.

If your going to pull the pump, I would pull the fuel shutoff solenoid off the injection pump and try to start it first, see what it does, it could be defective or the relay or wiring to it could be defective, but you really won't know until it is dismounted from the pump. After you pull it, make sure the rack that the solenoid shaft pushs moves back and forth smoothly with no binding.

I pulled the shut off solenoid and activated it manually with 12v. It worked. I reinstalled the solenoid and checked voltage even under load. Voltage to the solenoid dropped from 12.59 to 12.09 during starter rotation. Also, I removed side cover from pump direct wired lift pump to ignition terminal (so i could watch the injection pump without having to be in the tractor holding the ignition switch.) With the ignition switch in the ignition (run) position fuel poured out of the injection pump side inspection plate. So I am fairly confident adequate fuel is reaching the injection pump. I keep catching blurbs about some sort of plunger inside the injection pump that can stick. When I took the top cove off the injection pump the governor shaft was sticky. I rotated it an it then felt smooth. But, no avail, machine did not start after reassembly. I could have put the gov spring back in incorrect position. But, I even so, I believe the motor would at least hit-a-. There is supposed to be a code for spring position on the data plate but none of the numbers on my plate seem to match the examples I have found. I am going to post electrical schematic and pump pictures shortly.

Thanks, I was wondering about the effectiveness of running the injection pump without the solenoid. Fuel poured from the solenoid pump when I ran the tank pump without the solenoid in.

Are you getting fuel out of the injector lines at the injectors? I don't understand why when you jump the solenoid the fuel pump works.. Your system is probably full of air at this point which doesn't help.

I see, this is something I can't help you with, I don't know enough about your particular tractor. hope you get it fixed..

When I pulled the solenoid, i did not see a "rack" I poked around in the injection pump solenoid pump hole but nothing moved. What I saw was a small hole inside the injection pump. To me, it looked like the solenoid shafts rubber end simply works as a stopper. When the solenoid is activated the solenoid shaft retracts and unplugs the hole letting fuel into the pump.

You say you have fuel. But I thought I would mention, that in addition to fuel line issues we did have grief with the fuel filter sucking air as I believe it is on the suction side which sucks!

Why would your injection pump go bad except that plunger you mentioned?

Any white smoke when cranking?
