Just hooked a hot wire directly to the fuel pump shutoff solenoid. Now when turn the switch to ignition position the fuel pump runs ?

Open station or Cab?

Our open station 6200 tractor has the fuel pump running as soon as you put the switch to the run position.

The caution lights are just that and do not shut off the engine. No seat cut off or sheit like that.

I'm guessing a bad key switch.

I feel I deserve some sort of recognition from John Deere for getting the starter nuts back on. Maybe a medal and short reception.
I just changed a dead starter on a 6300 open station with the loader on it .what a p I t a took a while to realize every tool in my toolbox would not get the starter out with the loader on , its a challenge to get the loader of a tractor that will not start .
the pump probably just dead heads cause the fuel shut off solenoid isn't opening crack the fuel bleader and see if it pumps

It is enough of a challenge to get the loader on or off WITH the tractor running, especially without the OEM bucket!




I had thought of that too, the dead heading. I never had issues with the fuel system except major leaks on account of hoses that I think JD sourced from WWII surplus!

Yes. My tractor. This 6300 is Europe addition . I can forward a diagram. The hot wired solenoid is on the injection pump. Lift pump does not have a solenoid. My 6300 has two relays that the 6300's in my manual does not have. Power to the lift pump is not as stright forward as others. For example, one of the wires coming off the fuel pump relay comes directly from the altanator. Another wire from the relay comes from wire 220 that powers from the ignition circuit. Although I do not yet understand how the intank lift pump powers, I am thinking it may be operating correctly. I have powerd the pump and the solenoid directly , confirmed fuel flow to injection pump and cranked and cranked. Not o e pop. I have removed lucas CAV pump top and manipulated governor shafts and removed pump side cover and opserved pump shafts rotation. I am thinking I need to pull the pump. But, I am worried about timing. Pump shop guy told me not to worry, the lucas pump has a keyway and can only go back o e way. But I am worried about the gear movies g or falling into the engine housig. I certainly do not know what I do not know. I am sure only of this.

So it was your tractor? Worked fine the day it was parked and then could not be started? How many hours?

Sorry, I just HATE when guys dig into stuff that isn't the problem. I know it's harder than ever, but you need to understand how something works, THEN try and fix it. It's easier to try and get out of expensive service and hope you just get lucky.

Way cool marine. I just did the starter on the 6300 with the loader on. Removed the oil filter , starter relay , dip stick, . Used 1/4" drive socket with extension with tapered ends. Scraped my arms. Held nuts with tips of fingers. If I was any larger no way. 175lbs at 6'.

Trade my 6', 200 (something). You get an extra 25 pounds! It's a Good deal!

Not sure I want the ET fingers though. Ouch!

Would be nice. The machine hardly ran 3 years ago. Lift pump not operational just replaced while assembly. Junction box under right cab cracked melting and crumbly . Replaced and re pinned about 35 contacts. Yea had to make pin tools out of cotter keys. Shew. Of course battery replaced.
