72" snow blower and 35 hp?

If you are cutting 5’ deep snow drifts you will want twin augers and go narrower on the blower ie. a little wider than the tires. If you go too big then your little tractor will bog down and you will need to creep along. Powder snow will go great. Wet snow wont blow very well and takes more HP.

I’ve had Argo-Trend and Lucknow brands. You won’t go wrong going heavy duty construction. My Lucknow has 1/2 inch thick auger flights and still looks like new after 30 years.

Id buy a Canadian brand and avoid cheapo Chinese Stuff like the plague...

My brother has an 8 1/2 lucknow on a 110hp deere, that thing is a beast and weights more than my tractor..

I think you'll be way underpowered for old snow. Old snow sucks up HP like crazy and unless your tractor is hydro trans with a low range, I'd look for a smaller, (like tractor width) blower. Could you find one to borrow for a reality check before you make the investment?

Hard enough finding good ones for sale locally.

Going back and forth with smaller would not be worse. Probably still better than driving snow around.

I'll measure my tire width. Can always raise bucket. I believe box blade is 6'

I have a Lucknow S6 (72") that is rated for 20 to 35 hp tractors and their S5 (60") has the same basic specs. It is a rugged unit, but I have nothing to compare it too since it is the first PTO blower that I have owned. I clear 20' up and down the side of the road where the plow pushes in heavy snow and I get into some very old icy/crusty snow without any issues. I was blowing chunks of ice by the road this past Friday, no problem.
Mine is on a 50hp tractor so I take it easy when pushing into old snow, but other than that, all seems good. I should note that it is not the heaviest winter we have had (only 6 feet so far) - of course not, since I just bought the blower last fall!

Is the OP's tractor a 12+4 shuttle transmission? If so, is there someone here that can weigh in on if a shuttle goes slow enough?

The brands fish head recommended are good brands. When I had a blower it was six foot on 26hp. Worked just fine. Problem with hard, compacted snow - you won't have the weight nor traction to push the blower into that hard packed snow. Break it up with the FEL - then blow it. Be very careful pushing into compacted snow. The 3-point is meant to pull, not push.

Then again, I never had much over three feet.

Ya thats what I am thinking. Just wondering if it is really going to change things for me. Really like to find quicker way through roof snow. Maybe just life, and dealing with snow.
================================================================================================================================================

Roof snow is always nasty stuff as I have it slide off my metal roof in thick layers and then it creates its own dense mountain to get rid of due to the impact of the roof snow on the ground and the resulting compaction.
what ever you decide you should not purchase a wider snow caster than your wheel width and if you have the 48 inch width tread you can use a 48 inch snow thrower as long as it has gathering wings on both sides.
Which ever unit you choose adding a quick hitch is a win, win, and allows you to have a lower PTO shaft angle at all times and it will also allow you to raise the snow blower or single stage snow thrower higher to get a bigger bite into the piles to cut them back without damaging the universal joints from stress as the drive shaft angles are lower due to the length of the three point hitch steel work.

I can't picture how to flip the tires in or out to change width. I am pretty sure as it sits now it is about 6' wide. Tractor data says rear width 62 and rear tread 49 for 4wd model I have. I been using 6' box blade, which seems about the the width. The tractor doesn't live with with me, I'll have to measure

Not familar with the quick hitch. All I have is the box blade. I leave it on, since it is PIA to put on. Plus I use it a a lot. I use it like a brush hog to clear sapplings and debris on new trails

I run a 72" 2 stage (auger + impeller) argo-trend blower on my L3400... I have 30 hp @pto and a hydrostatic transmission.

for what your describing.... I think an over sized light material bucket might be better $$ spent then a blower.

I've got 6 foot bucket. Around here yiu tend to see the snow extensions mostly on front end loaders

Not sure I got power or weight. As it is now I push until the tractor stops. I don't have chains, but tires are full and I leave box blade on.

I was hoping to not have to drive it around.

For heavy roof snow, I am.not sure how extensions would work. 4x30x10. Plus I got one spot between camp and we'll that is tight. I don't think I want to go any wider.
