It's been a long time but I believe the Dist-pickup can be swamped with out removing the assembly from engine on a Ford 6. If it hasn't been mentioned another common failure is the fusable link or resistance wire that powers the coil it self.

Currently budget will not allow for a new distributer or cap. It seems silly but out of the $100 I'm down to $40 without getting more parts

I understand, I have been there as well. Just remember that these truck "don't eat a thing" and it can wait.... There were times in my life that just paying for the gas to get to work took priority over groceries!! I now cannot stand - Ramian Noodles to this day, Cup-O-Noodle forget that too......Yep tough times molded me into what I am now; a cheapskate according to my wife :)

Know the poor feeling all too well.

Got the part and had to pull the whole distributer. Got the pickup coil installed and that's all further. Went to dinner and pick up a trailer and run around town

Why did you have to pull the distributor? I know on v8s you don't have to.

Ease of working on it and didn't want to lose the small parts

Truck is running rough if on full throttle for a few minutes then stall if you try to hey off of the gas. Hasn't been ran in about a year and gas could be bad.

gas probably IS bad. Gas with ethanol in it is a p.i.t.a. when it is left to sit too long. Best bet is to drain it out and put in good high test for a tank or two.

2 solenoids later on the 3rd. Bought from auto zone. 1st was a cheappy burned out fast. 2nd a decent with warranty welded shut on the first try and had to pull battery cables to have the truck quite rolling over. Returned. 3rd was free upgrade because I didn't want a cheap one and they didn't have the decent ones.

Truck is firing off gas in carb and slowly starting to run off the gas in it after another 6 gallons and 2 bottles of gas treatment. My dad thinks that I through off the timing bit can't confirm until truck is running.

Has a huge alternator that might be a semi alternator that is possibly bad so that needs rebuild.

Then last night my partners truck was a tempted theft. Theft wrecked the whole steering column but didn't steal any tools from the toolbox. So hopefully no snow for a week or so if not we will need to run my duramax that has a power steering leak and bald tires

Just a lil update on the truck. Played with it some more and have to have the semi alternator rebuild or buy a new one. That is the only thing now that can be holding the truck up. Hopefully can get it soon before the mud bogs start heavy. Plans is to build a few guards and 3in body lift to put our 33s ground hogs under it 1463250632753.jpg
