My 855 lives in an open shed about 8 months out the year and the grille is starting to show a little rust. A new one from the dealer is about $600. There seem to be a couple of aftermarket ones available for about half the price. Does anyone have experience with these? I'm thinking I could put an aftermarket one on until (someday) the tractor can live in a nice enclosed garage or barn. As for the original, is it possible to get the rust off and repaint it?

Thanks.

To me it looks almost perfect. Throw a little paint on it your worried about it. I have the same style in my 790. Check your battery tray to make sure it is good because they are notorious for rusting out.

The grill on mine is really the only thing I don't like about my 855. It's a pain to get off and on (especially with the loader on), and really never sits secured. I didn't know aftermarket grills were available. Mine is pretty beat up - I may pull the trigger on the Amzon one, just to have on hand...

If yours is solid but only a little rusty, I'd just sand/prime/repaint.

If you paint it, use JD paint, other paints will turn bluish in color.

I ordered the one from Amzon/All States Ag. Showed up in two days and looks perfect. :D

Man - it's a tractor. Sand down the rust and repaint it.
