Mammoth Mountain in CA has received 163 inches of snow. This month! I'm not sure what that much snow looks like!

I dress in full Eddie Bauer down if its really cold out. It's not that bad. I got rid of that miserable 3-point blower about ten years ago. No matter which way I pointed the chute - eventually I would be covered.

Now I have a big enough tractor & rear blade that I can clear the berms that I will plow on my driveway.

Funny story - the winter of '93. We got a ABNORMAL amount of snow. 70" I was concerned about the weight breaking the rafters on my four bay carport. I made an extra long handle "snow rake". Worked pretty good. Stand on the low side of the carport roof - extend the snow rake all the way up to the front of the roof - pull. I was clearing the last roof. All of a sudden a loud "CRACK". The entire load slid off the roof in one fell swoop.

I was buried under about a foot of heavy wet snow. I didn't panic because I could still breath. The panic set in when I realize I could not move. I knew shouting would do no good. It takes a bomb explosion to be heard inside my house here. Finally, after some encouragement, my lab created enough of a "situation" that the wife came out to see what was troubling the dog. After she had completely finished her laughing jag - she dug me out.

No, that's a collage rental down the street from us with many of the Michigan Tech ski team. Nice kids have lived there for the X past years.

No sign of spring. We are now at 143 inches of snow in Gaylord. The weather models are showing no sign of spring. Rain, ice and back to snow on Sunday this week. I decided to start puttering with some metal for a cab for my little tractor after all . Too many below zero days with high winds. Probably won't get it done to use this winter but I'll have a good start on it.

We are going to have one **** of a mud season that's for sure.. The frost in coming up hard, you can catch air on the roads around here going 50mph..

Well - I had about 15" of snow but its been RAINING all day with temps around +40F. I think the spring rains may have arrived a bit early.

You watch - if this continues thru the night - there will definitely be flooding.

Gee guys, the days are getting longer and the sun certainly has more strength, but we are far from spring here in Houghton MI. Snow is about 4ft deep in our yard so XCing remains excellent. Seems the lake is about 85% froze as well....
