Hey, been away for a while!

I have been running an older L295DT in interior Alaska for over 20 years and thought I'd share a few things.

If you ever find that you shift from a forward gear to reverse or vice versa, and the whole machine locks up and kills the engine, it is likely to be worn shift fingers. What happens is the tractor can actually be in reverse and forward at the same time. The fix is easy. Four bolts get the shift tower off, and then the fingers are right there. You can spend lots of money and wait for new fingers, or you can rebuild them easily. Get out you suitcase wire welder. If you don't have one and you mess with tractors it's time you got one! Take the fingers out, and build up the worn areas with the machine set for the lowest heat and feed rate. Then grind and file them back to shape. Takes just a little time. I did mine with ordinary E71T flux core wire. No cost and half a days down time.
