A new seat for my 422

That is one great thing (of many) about the PT. That steel ROPS "sunshade" has saved my bacon a number of times in the trees. If I went and bought a regular tractor I would have a custom steel lid put on... Those fiberglass ones seem only good for field work..

Ditto on the on the steal (F)ROPS sun/rain shade, ive had some good size "widow makers" fall out of the trees and hit the top and it makes a dandy shelf to leave things on just before driving off.

It also kinda smarts when you hit your head climbing in every once in a while  :D

I used some gorrilla glue and those 1/2" rubber foam insulation sleeves for pipes. While a fantastic idea, and it really works, they were quickly removed by all the blackberries and trees.....

So Carl ,

how is your PT holding up lately? Did you replace all of the hose's as of yet or is she stabilized for now? Just curious would be nice if you got a chance to really enjoy it for a while without any hassles

Its a PT. Whats a PT without hassles? I am enjoying the heck out of it. I have not fixed the leak in the tunnel yet.. Was waiting on an appropriate time to do it. Trying to get as much work done as I can. I am using about 2 quarts of oil every 8 hours or so (in the hydraulics). I can live with it for a while I guess...

But yes, I have cleared roughly 5 acres of heavy brush so far, and am now about to embark on a new rake I am welding up. It should speed up the process of destroying blackberries... Boy those suckers get high.. If they find a tree, you can be in a bush of 20 feet high...

And of course it is berry season so you have to stop and enjoy before you kill...

Right now my personal tiltometer won't go beyond 30 degrees.. As I get more and more comfortable with it I will I hope.

It amazes me how solid the tractor is. I get on a 30 degree slope with the bucket loaded midway up and am doing figure 8's and not once have I felt a pucker factor.

I think what is holding me back the most is that I am afraid of getting stuck. I don't have a winch, and I guess I need to get one and just go and get stuck. Get into a ravine that I have to pull myself out of and realize it isn't that bad after all...

As my land gets rougher (I go down the ravines where logging has happened over the years) I tend to get hung up on logs and stumps. the PT is a bit low, but if I wiggle, or use the bucket, I can push myself off.

One thing I hate is how slippery the seat is... Slide right off going down steep hills...

Oh, I am at 70 hours on the tractor so far...

Carl
