Its a PT. Whats a PT without hassles? I am enjoying the heck out of it. I have not fixed the leak in the tunnel yet.. Was waiting on an appropriate time to do it. Trying to get as much work done as I can. I am using about 2 quarts of oil every 8 hours or so (in the hydraulics). I can live with it for a while I guess...

But yes, I have cleared roughly 5 acres of heavy brush so far, and am now about to embark on a new rake I am welding up. It should speed up the process of destroying blackberries... Boy those suckers get high.. If they find a tree, you can be in a bush of 20 feet high...

And of course it is berry season so you have to stop and enjoy before you kill...

Right now my personal tiltometer won't go beyond 30 degrees.. As I get more and more comfortable with it I will I hope.

It amazes me how solid the tractor is. I get on a 30 degree slope with the bucket loaded midway up and am doing figure 8's and not once have I felt a pucker factor.

I think what is holding me back the most is that I am afraid of getting stuck. I don't have a winch, and I guess I need to get one and just go and get stuck. Get into a ravine that I have to pull myself out of and realize it isn't that bad after all...

As my land gets rougher (I go down the ravines where logging has happened over the years) I tend to get hung up on logs and stumps. the PT is a bit low, but if I wiggle, or use the bucket, I can push myself off.

One thing I hate is how slippery the seat is... Slide right off going down steep hills...

Oh, I am at 70 hours on the tractor so far...

Carl
Yep from the sounds of it a winch would be a good investment for you. Nothing like a little piece of mind. Your land sounds beautiful defiantly the perfect PT playground. ;)

Hey Carl,

How about these beauties?

Anti-slip stickers

Might be the wrong theme to go with the other artwork... :)

Peter, the fact that you surf those kind of websites speaks volumes about you ;-)

Actually a good idea. Not sure if they would stick to Vinyl and survive the constant sucking up crevices my current seat does...

Just for another tiltometer:
Reiker instruments 2058

It is really easy to read at a glance.

They also make electronic versions that can be wired up as alarms.
Digital inclinometer

I went with the manual version...

I guess it does. :) Just wait until I'm done decaling my PT.

McMaster sells more mundane antislip tape;
6243T711 Nonabrasive Polyolefin Antislip Tape 1" X 15' Roll, Black

Then there are always seat covers...

Your right about Peter, but i expect the next pictures you post, we will see your PT festooned with Pink Flamingo stickers. The being the inventive person that you are, you'll want to do double duty with your PT and park it out front in the yard. ;-)

As far as reducing the back-crunching stiff bounce it works well. But it sits up higher and there's movement in all the linkage. So on steep-for-me side hills (I'm no Ponytug!) there's this side-to-side movement in addition to the up and down movement....and you are up higher, exaggerating the angle. On hills I was comfortable before with the stock seat, I'm not comfortable on the suspension seat.

A year ago a friend that has a commercial sewing machine offered to put better foam in my stock seat and a nicer cover. Since I was getting the new seat I didn't have him do that but I am going to ask if the offer is still open (I'm sure it is, I did a lot of work at his house with the PT).

Now that all the holes are drilled I think I could change seats in 10 minutes or less. I plan to try using the stock seat in fall and winter when I am moving brush and tree trunks around and the suspension seat in spring and summer when I'm mostly mowing.

I miss the "glued to the PT" feeling that it came stock with.
