Buying Advice A tractor for 35 wooded acres

Thanks. I never noticed a difference in the wheel wells. I did a quick search and most looked similar to what I have so maybe it’s a trick of the angle. I did see a couple of models of Kubota and JD that looked noticeably different though. Not sure.
Cool.. The tires on yours look really close to the front of the fenders. My Kioti's (<--- in profile) look much farther away. Was just wondering if TYM puts on bigger rear tires or if it was an optical illusion.

Congrats on the spiffy tractor you got for your son!
Did it come with a thumb?
Thumbs are extremely helpful.

Well....the new tractor was delivered today. I had just enough time to take it out on a couple of the trails to see how it’ll handle in the woods. I’ve got a little trimming to do but the trails were plenty wide for the most part. My grapple and forks will be here Tuesday and the box blade in 2 or 3 weeks. Let the work begin! Thanks everyone for all the help. View attachment 699440View attachment 699441

Looks like a happy boy and a good Dad!

I remember when I was comparing the Kioti and the TYM it seemed like the tires were bigger on the TYM but I never verified. I’ll post the size when I can remember to look. What model do you have...CK? I don’t know if you came across it in this thread but It came down to those two tractors for me. I really like the Kioti.

Edit: I was on my phone before and couldn't see your info....I see now you have the CK3510SE. I was thiiiiiiis close to pulling the trigger on that tractor. I'm very happy with what I have, but know I would have been with that one as well.

thanks Todd!

thanks Dave and welcome. I'm pretty excited.....it's already impressing me with what it can do and I've only got 3 hours on it so far. I didn't talk about it much in this thread, but I did look hard at Kubota (it's one of the closest dealers to me) but they didn't have what I would have wanted and couldn't be sure when it would arrive. In the end the T474 was the best fit for me. How long have you had yours? What kind of projects are you working on with it?
So far just cutting grass, working on the road, and moving rocks and dirt. 15hrs now. I bought a L3901 and love it.

Hey newbury! good to see you around. You were very helpful early on in my search, much appreciated...glad you got to see a conclusion. You may recall our Cornell/Ithaca connection and common interest in saws.

I didn't get a thumb, but it does have a bracket for one......and I do have a second remote.... I'll probably wait and see. I've got a few implements to gather before I can justify that I think. I thinking hard about a tree puller to deal with all this invasive honeysuckle. do you think a mechanical thumb is good enough to start or will I just wish I had the hydraulic one?

What a nice group of tractors you guys got. I can't wait to hear the good and the ugly. None are perfect; but all can last a lifetime. So please keep us informed.

About that possible thumb for the ripHST's backhoe.. I'd have to advise against getting a thumb, because if you put a thumb on the hoe that whole implement becomes so useful you may never get to fully appreciate the beauty of a 3pt hitch.

haha......you mean it gets MORE useful?! I've been thinking about whether that would be a good set up for plucking honeysuckle out of the ground. The tree puller would probably be faster but the hoe could reach into tighter areas.
