Update.
As of this afternoon LG sincerely apologizes that they cannot find a repair center to fix our refrigerator. They have now offered to refund our refrigerator at a prorated rate and will pay us $1700 of the $2500 purchase price. Once accepted we can do what we want with the refrigerator but any they are no longer responsible for any future warranty claims. The same comparable fridge to purchase new now runs about $3,200.

Guess I now have to decide if I want to file for arbitration and then take it to small claims court after that if the arbitration is not acceptable.

Take the $1700 from LG. Have A&E fix it for $1100 and pocket the $600.

That's what I'm working on. Have an appointment for Sat. According to A&E they should be able to get the compressor for free so will see what the labor costs. What's crazy is A&E would not accept my request for repair even if I paid because the previous visit was in their system as a factory warranty. Called two different times. I ended up requesting the repair no issues through sears home improvement which technically is A&E. I have my doubts though that I will really ever see a check from LG.

We purchased LG washer and dryer about 5-6 years ago from Home Depot. We had a failure on each of them during the 3 or 4 year warranty period and HD resolved them within a couple days. Last dryer issue (warranty expired) was a drum wheel went bad, found replacement kit on Amazon pretty cheap and replaced it myself, think I did another one at the same time as well as it seemed a little hard to spin. Then the washer started vibrating violently and had what looked like rubber dust particles on the lower drawer. I figured it was a belt going bad. I took it apart and it was actually concrete breaking apart and falling out of a large plastic weight.

I did some research and found what it should weigh, I poured in some #8 shot to reach that weight, sealed it with some Hot Glue then once that cooled wrapped it with some electrical tape to try and insure it never lost any weight again. So far, its' been running fine.

I have never liked Samsung appliances or TV's, everyone had problems.

Most small appliance repair companies do not repair the refrigeration cycles. A friend in the business stated there are too many modern compressors filing in the 1-5 year time and factory warranty repair payments do not even meet their breakeven point. Plus the cost of quality diagnostic and repair equipment and stocking the several expensive new type refrigerants and the hassle factor of the EPA management nonsense makes it all a non-starter.

He has to net $200/hour to cover all the lost time chasing and waiting on parts. He only will quote a lump sum any more and will not discuss labor costs. Here is the price take it or leave it. Him and his son-in-law have more work than they can handle, not messing with warranty issues.

He says plan for your new appliance to last a max of 5 years.

Wasn’t that long ago, you could get a decent used truck or tractor with that kinda money. Funny how the prices go up and up, but the service side goes down and down.
Locally, the mom and pop appliance business is done. The big box stores ran them out. Noticed lately at Lowes, fewer and fewer employees, more vendors. Last time I was there, one cashier in whole store. I left my items and dont plan on going back. Good thing we have internet and freight trucks.

Samsung isn't much better. They make great phones and should stick with that instead of appliances. Based on your experience with LG they are definitely off my list to purchase in the future. Kinda hard to believe they offer this warranty and then don't honor it. Will the seller do anything?

Me, I do Whirlpool. I know where they are made at (Clyde, Ohio is one plant with a few others scattered around Ohio and Indiana).

Not some ricer place and imported in a container.

I find history interesting! If you look at the history of merchandising, there was the General Store, then came Sears and their catalogs to do mail ordering. Then retail malls popped up along with big box stores. Now we're going back to on-line ordering. I wonder what the next step will be?

Lady I know bought a Frigadaire range from Lowes just before Christmas.
It caught on fire the moment it was plugged in. I would have taken it back to the store immediately, or if the kitchen needed a remodel hoped the breaker held on.
But they opted to have a service tech come. After one repair it caught fire again. On the other two attempts at repair it comes on by itself when plugged in. I dont know where it stands now.
