30+ HP as that is the comon "Break" point for implments.

Get the Hp you can afford, that will give you the most "Capability" for the long term and for you money.

Another thing to consider is GPM hydro flow from the pump. With a Tractor you really have to look beyond your "Current" needs to the possibilities of what might be in your future. hence the more HP you can afford now the happier you will be in the future when you need the additional power.

I made the mistake years ago, bought a Cub Cadet Garden Tractor, cost me 1/2 of what I spent 10 yrs later on my Bota. I kick myself now because for only 1/4 more at the time I could have had a REAL tractor rather than skimping with the Cub....

When I researched buying my tractor, everyone told me the same thing. Get as much HP as you can afford, you may not need it now but there will be a time you WILL need it down the road. 30 hp is what I have in my B7800, and I've had occasion to use ALL of it already a few times. It was as much power I could get with the most Ground clearance, and most hydo flow at the time with local support. 18.5K for Tractor/402 loader/5' LPBH/ 72' LP3pt 2 axis blade. 3 yrs 0% int and just over 500/mo payments.

I'm trying... just moved to the new place (projects/improvemnts to do cost $$) and have my 3rd kid on the way.

If I could spend $300+/mo for the next 6-7 years I would. But that's more than my truck payment!

Going for the used 2910i. Payment is a bit higher because of bank financing will only go 6.75 for 36 but it's done in 3 years and not a drain on me for 84 months! My newborn would be almost SEVEN years old by the time a new one was paid off!!!

Thanks for all the opinions and advice!

You know your financial situation better than anyone here. However, you should go with the tractor has at least a CAT I 3PT. The implements may cost a little more, but they are more available and stronger built in most cases. Since there are more available, means that there will be more used implements available at a lower cost.

However, all in all, do not get in over your head financially because of something we have said or recommended.

Good luck and keep us informed. Post pictures after you make your decision. We like pictures.

Ok, got a catch on the 2910i.

The seller agreed to $9500 and the guy selling it for her is throwing in his 5' box blade. Old and slightly rusted and missing one tooth but who can argue with free.

So the catch. She owes $10,200 on it and doesn't have the money to pay the $700 difference (so I'm told). She is already 2 payments behind and it's near getting Repo'd.

Thoughts?
Ideas?
Advice?

I really hope this is not a sales tactic to get more money! I can only go on what they are telling me. I know who it is financed through and Tuesday I will call them and at least pretend I want to assume the loan.

They should tell me how much it is then, right?

Contact the finance company and offer $9000.

When I was looking I zoomed in on Kioti's pretty quickly as having a lot of features for the money and a reputation as being stout.
I looked hard the the CK35 as the price was great and I though it would do everything I needed.
I went with a DK45SE HST on my 37 acre farm. At 21K OTD it was the max I was comfotable spending.
I lease ~20 acres or so out for row cropping to the farmer next door so I really only use it on 16-17 acres. I like it a lot but if I could have afforded it I would have gone up a size or two.
I'd go with the DK35SE from your list.
Warhammer

Went and looked and drove A Kioti CK25 and CK30 today. Gear and Hydro... boy hydro is nice :D

Also was considering Branson 3510i and Mahindra 1816 gear.

Prices:
CK25HST with loader, shredder, box blade: $15,895
CK30HST loader, shredder, box blade: $16,595
Branson 3510i with loader: $16,900 - thinking this is too much $$ after looking at the Kiotis.
Mahindra 2816g with loader: $14,948

CK35HST is $17,295 just for tractor loader and a DK35se is only $400 more but tractor seems like over kill for my 10ac place.

Is $1700 worth 5 Hp to go from 25 to 30? That's about $20/mo on 84 months.

One last wrench. Contacted a guy with a 2006 Branson 2910i, 143 hours, with loader, shredded and post hole digger for $9900. Seems like a good price and there should be power train warranty remaining. Going to look at it either tomorrow or Saturday.

Saving money is always a good thing. Should I go new? Does $9900 sound like a good price for the 2910i?

Since the Kioti's are 2008 models should I try and get them down some? Heck, the CK25 isn't even in the line up anymore.

I think any of the above tractors would ft the bill fine. I just need a shove one way or the other. That HST was nice! Though, saving about $10k (after interest and initial cost) is nice too!

Thanks for any opinions/advice.

If they repo it and you buy it for 9000. they will still go after her for the difference. Unless you and her and the bank work out a "short sale" and the bank eats the difference.
If you don't have the cash upfront, off to take over payments at zero % interest.

What is her interest rate?

The loan is about 2 years old and if you could take it over it might be a great deal -- might be better than bank financing on the machine.

OTOH, they might not let anyone take over the loan. You might be able to "take it over" privately. You sign a contract with her that you will bring the loan current and make all future payments, she signs over her interest in the tractor to you. The bank doesn't have to sign off on anything. They will be happy to get their payments on time. It might be a little tricky, because at the end of the loan period, she will get paperwork from the bank indicating they are releasing their interest in the tractor to her. Unless your paperwork with her is ironclad, she could come after you for "her" tractor.

I thought this 2910 was a deal???

Like I've said earlier, I think TX prices are higher.

When everyone was getting CT230's for $11,995 other places they were $13,900 here..... yes, that boat sailed and I missed it!

I'll call and see if the finance Co. is open today.

That seems like a good price for a NEW 2910i w/loader $12,500 cash or $13,500 financed.

What would it cost to ship from NC to TX?? LOL!

/ About to pull the trigger... I think? #33
13,500 at 0% for 60 months comes out to about $225/month.
not a bad deal.

Not at all. I tried calling the number. No answer.... holiday and all.

Any clue on shipping? $500? $1000+????

It's' 1519 miles and @ today fuel rates I could probably buy the Mahindra 2816 ($14,948) cheaper locally. Not = machines though either. 2910i > 2816.

Would the local Branson dealer have to honor the warranty work if needed?

Just did an online freight quote and got $1,399. Ouch!

So total with freight it would be $14,899. About $50 cheaper than the Mahindra 2816 new locally.

72" wide bucket and 60" at the back wheels.
around 4500# gross weight.
would fit on a 7k 6x16 tandem trailer.
round trip fuel, food, and hotel rooms for the 3000 mile road trip for you and a buddy would be about half that freight quote...
and yes, your local dealer would have to honor the warranty.
even better would be for him to try and find you a simialr deal.
or you could check Gove in Tulsa - see what kinds of deals they have.

and yes - the 2910 is a different class than the 2816 you found local.

Sounds like a great first long road trip for the 08 Hemi? LOL!

I am sure someone has already said this before here, or elsewhere, but when buying a new tractor, you are also buying a dealer (or not). That dealer can make your purchase a joy, treat you right for delivery, set-up, parts and accessories, and can make all the difference for a repair/warranty issue.

No few bucks saved here or there can compare to having a solid dealer, locally, on your side. That is my take, anyhow.
