hey chief5, welcome to the forum.

I see in the link you posted that the ROPS aren't installed.
I agree that you pop some bolts off and it's gone but I'm pretty sure that the dealer can't sell it/allow off their lot without it being installed. (Ditto on tractors equipped with ROPS). Actually, I stopped into a dealer who just got a truck load of them in and he said he had to hurry and get them to the back. They won't even allow a test ride without it being in place.
Where you and Chuck are, the terrain is relatively flat and may allow you to go without one but if conditions allow, I'd always recommend having it in place. I've heard that people have rolled RTV's (primarily due to sharp turning at high speeds). A 2000# RTV rolling over without a ROPS could get real ugly.

I live in a very hilly area and having had one nasty roll (that put me in critical care for weeks) and having several close calls, I wish all my machines had ROPS.

You're right about the dealer having to install it. I even had to sign a form stating that all the safety devices and stickers were in place at the time of pickup. I was just commenting that it could be removed. I have had my Worksite model exactly 30 days and love it. Hauled all the lumber for a 16x16 hunting cabin 1.5 miles into the timber and then went to Canada bear hunting last week. A little slow for up there, but never get above 25 mph on my own place anyway.

It's true (thanks Neil!!)
It's called a speed lever assembly, PN K7561-42334. $14.25 at dealers.
It goes somewhere in the pedal (haven't seen it nor installation steps yet).
I'm going to go to the dealer and take a new RTV for a ride (apparently they're coming out of the factory with this installed) and see how it acts. Stay tuned.

Let me know how it works when driving it. I may have to get one. I've gotten used to the quick stop, but when I ride with my daughter driving, she pretty well launches me out the front on a frequent basis! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Just got back from the dealer. As always... spent more money. I'm with you Brent, just keep spending. (For my first service – $122 for 3 RTV filters, 3 qts engine oil and 5 gal UTP tranny fluid. Is that about right)

Took a worksite out with this "fork" (still don't know what it is nor where it goes) installed. At lower speed, it was pretty nice. Seemed to be just enough to take out the super-quick stop. Unfortunately, they don't have hills but the way it acted, I think it may be OK.
At higher speeds, look out. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It definitely took awhile to stop. I was applying brakes.
At $14.25, I'll be a guinea pig. I ordered one and will install for a while and get back with everyone. If anyone is at a dealer, try one and provide a 2nd opinion.

Side note – Sitting next to the dealers RTV’s was the steel crating from a B series and (I think he said) L series tractors. One look and it was obvious they could easily be turned into trailers. (Mainly tube and angle iron). The “L” series had nice steel sides also.
I inquired and he said “help yourself”. They don’t have to return to Kubota. So, I’m heading off with the trailer later to get these and the log splitter I just bought. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oops, reading back through here, too many subjects but I’m submitting anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Already tried the trailer from the frame and be sure to add some support. The steel they use is not the good stuff and the tractor chassis does a lot for rigidity. They could make a good garden tractor cart but a little light for a compact tractor. Working on the second one now using a Case-IH DX frame which seems to be a bit stronger.

Thanks Art,

I was thinking of these for hauling firewood, branches..., but nothing very heavy. I was thinking of stripping the axle and tongue off of a 17 cu/ft cart, lay some 3/4" plywood and call it done. I never use the 17 cu/ft, it has no volume.

Just now seeing this thread...

Yes, there is a new speed lever assembly that is located on the side of the transmission. It is supposed to minimize the sudden stop that some people dislike. I personally like the old style speed lever assembly better.

BTW, the ROPS is removable but driving around without it is not advisable...the ROPS is there for safety (obviously).

Hey Jippy,
Have you seen how/where this thing mounts? I'm going in to town tomorrow will hopefully be picking up this part. Just wondering if it's going to be a bugger to put on (or if/when I don't like it... take it off).
Yep on the ROPS. Follow the "safety thread". We're currently talking about a guy who just rolled his tractor on lavel ground... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
