Newbury...It looks like the add on ripper in the picture would be more useful turned around. That way you could get more force from curling.

Agree but while the ripper attached as an extension to the bucket gives better reach it also decreases power. There is no "knife" edge on this ripper so it is relying on brute force to tear roots and with it extended so far I would imagine it might have trouble with even 2 inch roots.

My wife wants me to preserve wild blueberry bushes too. That's a little difficult when the bushes are all round the trees I'm removing!

I moved a blueberry bush yesterday. Really pretty easy. I ripped "gently" about six inches down on all sides about a foot wider than the bush then used fork mounted shovel to pick it up and move it. The root "ball" was really only about six inches deep. At the new site I just used the fork shovel to dig a similar size shallow hole and plunked the bush in. I really did not disturb the roots much so I am hoping it goes well. Could easily have done this with human powered shovel, an assistant and a wheel barrow but that wouldn't have been any fun.

That's not mine, it's from the quote.

I was just showing how someone else was attacking the problem.

That's a pretty good idea that fellow had, Newbury. I guess he had it in the "stowed" position when the picture was taken.

Trying that, but if it doesn't work I will be in the dog house for a month or two.

She won't find out until Spring so you're safe for now.

Maybe you could spend the winter fixing up the current dog house.

Wedge

Actually, he has a 72" bucket so only needs a tarp for rainy nights.
