That's another good idea!
Looks like a 5" nipple would spread the large couplers and adapter fittings far enough to clear. In theory it should work.
But if it were me....I'd simply put a 45° fitting in one of the adapters or a different length close pipe nipple
I'm saying it, because Prince valves have been better made valves than the others I've used."Prince is a premium brand" Are you saying that because of experience with the pros and cons of various brands or because the Prince costs twice as much?
The Chief and Summit valve is just a rebranded Badestnost valve made in Bulgaria. I have the same exact valve on my homemade backhoe, two actually, and the 4 spool one cost me around $225 like 10 or 12 years ago. It's a very basic valve, so no load check valves and while being one of the cheapest valves available, they do have some nice quality and low internal leakage.
Another thing, the load check valves won't prevent you from lowering a load with the engine off. You can still do it just fine.
It's indeed the same. You can even read on the small the serial number plate that it's made in Bulgaria. That's quite a profit margin right there.Chief Hydraulic Directional Valve, GPM 10, Working Port #8 SAE in, Max. PSI 3625, Model# 220909 | Northern Tool

It's interesting that Northertool lists the Chief valve at more than twice the Summit valve while appearing to be the same exact rebranded valve as ptsg mentions above.
