Additional Trailer lock keys

I bought a three pack of some brinks Discus locks for my enclosed and was needing to have a couple extra keys made, anyone ordered them from brinks or can a local key shop cut them? Also I have the new style Reese "Square" cut keys for my receiver lock and a coupler lock, same thing with them, is it hard to get replacement keys for them?

I would think a local key shop could make them.

I was wondering if you bought the round silver brinks locks? Do they have the brass where you insert the key? If so I had some of those and the wife lost the key. Just so you know you can take a drill bit the size of that brass piece, drill it out and the lock will open. Took me about 10 seconds with that drill. I know locks are not theft proof, but for brinks it sure seemed too easy to get it open.

If your local locksmith cannot make the keys they can put you in touch with Brinks to get additional keys. Some companies only deal with the buyer / owner of the lock.

I had a similar situation with Master Lock. I have hundreds of combination locks for employee lockers at work and needed an updated list of combinations for a certain batch of locks (IE lock nos. 100-500). Had to send a letter from our administration to Master stating we owned the locks, what the lock numbers are, and why we needed the list. They wouldn't send it to the locksmith but only to us.

Speaking of keys, Today I purchased a Reese trailer hitch lock at the local Walmart. Got it home and opened the pkg only to find the keys supplied do not unlock the lock. Now I have to make another trip to exchange the lock.

thanks guys, so far i like the reese hitch lock and coupler lock design i bought. I know that if they want it they will get it but I'm going to try and do what I can to keep my stuff, but I do have insurance on the trailer and drag car.
