Adj Draft Links -45,46,4700

The Adjsutable Draft Links will be available in a couple of months! Though I was repeatedly advised by the dealer that they were not availabe and probaly would not be - voila! - my new 4700 owners manual shows the "adjustable draft links" as an option. I called the JD hotline and was told that this was problably a boo-boo print and should be in the 5000 series manual. With a bit more pushing I found out that I had one of the first manuals with this "advance" picture and yes they were in production and would be available for shipment and dealer notification in about 6-8 weeks. This will be a major step forward for those that have to change out 3pt attachements as they are vastly easier on one's significant other.

That is good information. I too noticed the adjustable draft link picture in my manual. I got the same story from the dealer that they were not available and he did not know when they would be. Did they mention the price?

Course at this point I'm not sure I would buy them! The long metal pry bar I have allows me to move everything around pretty easy so I might not spend the money on new links..... I want the armour kit and I'm really thinking about a FOPS.

Same picture in my manual(4700), Same info "not really available" thru my dealer...don't blame him though, he's tryin'!

I sure hope GVW's scoop is the straight story. If I get my tractor outfitted and in service before then, I'm gonna ask my dealer not to penalize me for the short period of use on my 'standard" links, when (if) I trade them when the telescopes become available. I guess we won't know what the price will be till then.

Anybody know how much extra they are on the 5000-series...Or are they "standard" on those?

What are adjustable draft links? I thought they were just a way to make the links longer, but you guys make it sound like they will ease attaching implements.


ps - oh brother, soon as I had posted that I realized how nice it would be to not have to move the implement to get the hole lined up /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif. Having said that, how do you ensure that the distance from the tractor to the implement stays the same all the time? Assuming, of course, that it needs to be /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Mark, the links do telescope so you can release a catch and slide the end in and out (actually only a very short distance on most tractors; a couple of inches) and once the implement is hooked up and you lift it, they slide back in and latch (self locking). And my B2710 doesn't have such./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I think I could buy the B2910 linkages and that would fit my B2710, but I don't want to spend that much money.

What is the list price for these arms from JD?

I think it was about $250. option for the 5x05 series, and they are category II.

P.S. - Bruce, glad to see you finally came over to the board, we sure could use your expertise!

Last March I paid $200 for telescoping links when I bought my 5210. They were already on the tractor so they may cost more if they are installed later.

Availability is scheduled for Feb. 2001.
I have been unable to find list price for them yet.

Also new for the 4x00 series is the vertical exhaust kit.
4200....LVB25111
4300, 4400....LVB25106
4500, 4600, 4700....LVB25013

This kit eliminates the down turned exhaust pipe and puts it up in the air where a tractor's pipe ought to be.
