Yes, Merry Christmas Arrow - time fly's and I recall our conversations and discussions around your 790? John Deere and decision to get the 3016 some years ago and thanks for remembering! As to Cadplans design - it makes sense if you have his setup, but in your case (mine too) it would mean cutting off the end of the splitter and adding a channel and a new splitting wedge and more..

I can see how this works and is interesting but not sure how this will work in every case - 1) the top round wedge pushes the wood down and thru the splitter and acts as a pre split which is good 2) but how does it manage large rounds that want to split in half? Do you move those back and split them?

Yes. The 750 was hard to let go with all the memories of the grand kids associated with it. You were one of the few "unpuzzled" by my sentiment for an inanimate object. Memories are not formed by the object itself. The thing is still going I understand and is now 34 years old. Guy even built a cab for it.
The 3016 has cut my chore time in half or more. I can skid in 5 cords of stems in two days as opposed to a week or more with the smaller tractor.

It seems that the adjustable wedges come with the $8000 splitters. No one seems to make a simple $2500 splitter with this addition. It would probably pop the price up another grand but that's at least doable.

I made it that way so that I could change the machine,, from a splitter to a hydraulic press,,

I think I use it more as a press than a splitter!!

Pretty original there CAD. Nice machine you rustled up. I don't have any neighbors like you but sure wish I did. You'd have this figured out in no time. I'm pretty good with wood but metal can send me for a loop now and again. What's scary is a guy like me having a welder.
