Rule # 1: Never have your spouse guide you while backing a trailer. Nothing damages a relationship like yelling "left" no, "the other left" the "truck's left not the trailer left" no "the back left of the truck not the front" and so on. Just spend a moment at any boat ramp, RV campground, or horse event and you can see it play out like clock work.
#2: Never reach into a rural mailbox without looking first -- let's see, bees, ants, snakes, venomous spiders, hornets . . . the list goes on and on.
One day in high school gym class, our teacher said "don't suit up today, just sit on the bleachers, we're going to do something different." And without further adieu, he just started sharing life lessons we wouldn't get anywhere else.
a. Never loan your wallet, your watch, or your wife -- they won't come back the same.
b. Never get in a broken bottle fight or try to fight a trained karate expert -- you can't win and no one will ever call you chicken for walking away.
c. If you get trapped in a well or a mine, when the drill bit enters the space, hit it 3 times with a hammer, pause, and then one more time for each person left alive.
I can't remember any others but it was the sort of educational moment not commonly available in school.
