Advice on boxblade size ?

I'm purchasing a John Deere 3720 (44hp), which has a track width of 59.1 inches (~5ft) and would like to purchase a boxblade.

Looking for advice on wether to purchase a 5 ft or 6 ft boxblade.

Has anyone purchased a 5ft and found it slightly short in covering the footprint ?

5 ft Medium duty, 515 lbs ($599)

6 ft Standard duty, 575 lbs ($791)

The 5' should do you fine, but you may just want to go to the 6ft because it will get even closer up to fences, or other areas that you may need to work.
In my mind, you have enough power to handle the 6 footer without difficulty, but some extra tough soil may make it necessary to raise a couple of the scarifiers if you have trouble digging. I'd go with the 6' if you have a lot to do, the 5' if you don't.

The 6' would work fine for your size tractor. It will not only do a good job grading, but will also be able to handle it full of dirt.

I use a 5' behind my relatively light weight 30 engine HP Kubota B2910 with pretty good results...

If it were me, with a tractor your size I would go with the 6' and not blink an eye... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would bet that 59.1" is minimum wheel spacing on a 44hp tractor, and that they would expand or reverse to more like 6', so I would definitely go with the 6' boxblade.
