My experience with donkeys is limited but it has left me with the perspective that they are similar to cats in attitude. You have to make it what they want and seem to be their idea or you are spitting up a rope. But I saw something in Haiti a year ago that makes me rethink my bias. A donkey was coming down the road at a fast walk, very fast for a donkey. Behind him was a woman with a switch. Watching her work him I learned that donkeys have sensitive ankles and one woman with a switch can make one behave quite well.
