If you are just looking to pick up enough greens for compost you might look for a leaf sweeper that goes behind a lawn tractor. I finally slipped one past my wife this fall. It cost $280 here is Alaska, but has a 17 cu. ft. basket. In just a half hour she has more than enough greens for her compost. And we have LOTS of compost. I have a 42 inch wide unit, but have seen 60 inch units advertised. You could even pull it behind your mower unit.

What I like about the unit is that I dump the material at the pile and then come back with my tractor and toss the pile. No more turning compost every week by hand.

When I was a boy we raked up the hay into piles. We had an old horse drawn rake that had a foot pedal to release the hay. My grandad hooked it to his tractor and I sat in the seat and pushed the pedal. It worked great, it just took two people. This just brings back old memories.

We used to do the same Gregg but we tied a rope to the trip pedal so only a tractor operator was needed.
