After one year....

I've put a grand total of 98 hours on the "new" Kubota! Is this pretty average for a new tractor at one year old? Also, myself being a year older, today I reached the grand total of 60 years old! Wonder if the 'bota will make it another 59 years...lol. :D Dang it, I think I need my "oil" changed and maybe an "upgrade" or two.

When you walk is it more of a shuttle shift operation? Mine is.

Yep :ashamed: My left foot has two tendons (favous and brevis) that are completely torn loose from the attachment point and that foot will roll over easily if I'm not careful on uneven ground. My right foot got twisted a couple of weeks ago and hurt like the devil  It's still very sore so I am limping along. Getting old is a heck of a lot harder than I thought it would be. :(

My mother will be 90 next month and gets along better than I do...

My previous tractor averaged 80 hrs a year. I used that as my primary mower so a majority of the hours were for that. I didn't use the tractor for much else in the summer time because I didn't want to take the deck on/off all the time. It would plow snow in the winter and do odd tractor jobs in the spring and fall.
When I bought a dedicated mower, I found a whole bunch of jobs for my tractor to do so the hour average didn't change much in the last year I had it. On the new one, it was delivered in early November and I have 37 hrs on it now. That's kind of impressive because I only plowed two or three times this year so I've found other things to do. Right now I'm purposely trying to get the hours to 50 for its breakin period. Anytime I'm using it, I will let it idle so that is contributing to the hours but I've still found various reasons to be on it at a time of year when not much is going on.
Enjoy your tractor.

Unless you farm all day every day it is hard to get over 1000 hours on a tractor. I'm about 12 years older than you and farming is my retirement pastime, not the way I make a living. People who make a living farming (are there still some of those?) often put several hundred hours or more a year on a tractor. Larger commercial outfits run them to death of course. I put about 50 hours a year on a Kubota and another 50 to 75 a year on a Massey Ferguson. The Kubota had only 200hrs on it when I got it in about 1988 and it will definitely outlast me. The MF was new in 2011 and had an unbelievable list of problems. However, now that all those have been fixed, I have no doubt it will also outlast me and maybe the kids too. The Kubota is moving snow in winter and grass and brush in the summer in a mountain location. The MF is primarily bush hogging, operating a boom arm cutter for brush and tree limbs and cleaning up an old 100 acre hilly farm.

I got mine in July of last year and as of now I'm at 97 hrs with 3 more months to go.

I bought my BX2230 in Oct last year and already had a 100hr service done on it. A lot of snow blowing. Summer might be slower, but tomorrow I get to do some bucket work with it. Also some gravel for driveways later on. Jon
