We keep fly masks on all our horses during the summer. Someone called animal control and said that we were gouging the eyes out of our horses They thought the fly masks were eye patches.

I afraid livestock needs to have a label or warning sticker pasted on them these days. Peoples lack of knowledge seems to be our problem and not theirs.

I like the idea of a trail cam. Stick it right on a T post in front, you do not care if they see they are on camera. The $140. 8meg bushnell is great for the price and are so clear at 8 megpix you could see who is looking if the horse is gone and not at the road. They are going to keep calling as long as they see the horse is still around. Key is they have to see it is still around so they will be looking after each future call. You can set the cam to take a couple pics various seconds apart after trigger and might catch your PITA pulling over to look like the neighbor said. That means nothing until you show her a pic eyeballing your place when asking if she has a problem with you.

They probably do, just spend most of their time sitting on the couch eating cheese puffs and playing xbox. Most likely have never seen the outdoors.

Yep.. guess they don't know that 'fat' is unhealthy. if you look at the animal side to side fromthe rear, and there belly is round on each side, and there are no hips sticking out, and you can't see bones in the withers.. then the horse is more than FINE

back in the old days if you had a neighbor that was down on their luck and couldn't afford some feed or something.. you just asked them if you could give them some hay or feed or help them.

nowadays.. people just call the law on bad guesses...

That's because our great nation seems to think the government has all the answers. The government takes care of the needs of about 50% of the people so surely the government can care for a few horses. Sound guy I'm sorry you have idiots living near you.

Here in MD they are trying to get an animal abuse registry, just like a sex offender registry. I think when that happens, I'll stop keeping animals, it just ain't worth it. It's already illegal to keep a dog outside all day, can't be tied up outside, can't even be on a runner all day, even if it has food water and shade.

I think you should put up a big sign offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of whoever is turning in false animal abuse claims. One of their "friends" might turn them in for the reward. Course, you won't have to pay if the person isn't arrested and convicted, but you would know who is doing it.
