I did, ambient temperature has a huge effect on lead-acid self-discharge:

Yes, ambient temperature can have a larger affect than the difference between AGM and Flooded lead-acid.

That right-hand column is very telling. Best never to let the battery get that low, and if it does, charge back up as soon as possible.

Goeduck so true. It is nice not to have corrosion. Many a good battery has been replaced because of it. My first AGM was on my corvette. Difficult to service so I wanted no corrosion. And I still use them on hard to service places

AGM's typically don't have corrosion because they don't off-gas much, if any at all. Lead Acid batteries, even the really good ones, off gas due to the charge cycles.

So it is off gassing that creates the corrosion on lead-acid batteries? I always thought it was the acid wicking up past the posts. I learned something today.

Yup, ordinary LA battery cell caps are vented and very near battery posts.
Acid can wick up around posts, that is usually because of over-tightening battery clamps and moving the post during the process.
Remember the old battery strap carriers? They clamped onto the posts with side force, plus the upwards pull on posts. I only use one when that is the only option for removing a battery.

I never really thought of acid leaking / wicking from the posts, or consequences of the terminal style battery carriers.
My current carrier is the single jaw type that grips the case sides.

That's where corrosion comes from. I grease up the battery posts on led-acid batteries for that reason with every oil change. That's or spray them with white lithium grease in a can.

When I need a battery in one of my tractors I pull the oldest one from car or truck and replace that one. You have a warranty on the new one going into car or truck that way.

I also have AGM batteries I purchased through Amazon at a very competitive price that have worked well in my stand by generator, the BX2660, and my 2016 3500HD Duramax. When the battery in my 7 year old L4060 HSTC finally dies I'll replace it with an AGM as well.

The only problem I had was the offered sizes were limited and I had to use measurements versus standard sizing to find units that would fit my applications.

personally I use an interstate deep cycle battery with the most cca that will fit the space. never had an issue, I don't charge it except when running the engine. I live in SC so I use my tractor all year so there is really no down time. When this one quits, I will buy another one. Just my opinion and preference.
