personally I use an interstate deep cycle battery with the most cca that will fit the space. never had an issue, I don't charge it except when running the engine. I live in SC so I use my tractor all year so there is really no down time. When this one quits, I will buy another one. Just my opinion and preference.
Why a deep cycle battery for a starting application? Do you have some heavy load which is expected to draw the battery down more than the alternator can keep up with (e.g. and lectric winch or similar)?
Generally, deep cycle holds up better than a starting battery to been drawn down significantly, however, it does not hold up as well to high peak loads (which is what starting batteries are designed for.)
