Yes, that price sounds about right. But you can buy an almost wore out Pratt and Whitney JT8-7b or -9 for pennys.

I will remember to tell my co workers when we are working on them to call them engines, not motors.:laughing:

It's interesting than a turbine engine uses the same 4 cycles that a piston engine uses. Except that all 4 cycles happen at the same time on the turbine.

A good 5hp single phase motor is $500 or more! Unless I can find a good used motor, I'm not needing that much air.

That depends how good. You can get better prices on the 3450 RPM ones. I have one like this.

Served fine for 10yrs and still will if I reconnect that compressor. I would run it an hr or more continuous sand blasting with my Kellogg American compressor. Current at 160PSI cuttoff pressure was 25A ... an overload.

Those leeson motors are very good, my dad has one on his old delta table saw, the motor has been used quite a bit for like 20 years, and it is still working perfect.
