But in perspective, we have a good sized Lab that makes us aware when they are snooping around and she chases them off or they avoid us. It seems gators would not be like that? I'd be afraid one of them big gators would eat the dog instead?![]()
Occasionally a mountain lion is sighted here in the North Valley, but so far I haven't seen one myself.
My son and I were hiking the trails in Whiting Ranch Park when I lived in Orange County (Aliso Viejo) a few years ago. A few days after we were there a guy on a mountain bike was killed by a cougar on one of the trails in the park. The same cat attacked two women a few hours later, mauling one in the face pretty bad. The game wardens shot the cat later in the day as it was returning to its kill. That's as close as I care to get to one of those critters.
