Sounds like the 2320 should/will serve you well... The main advantages of the 2320 are the extra height, 3 pt position control and a little better hydraulic flow (AND a larger backhoe down the road ;)). There are other advantages.... but those seem to be the main ones. IF you're truley wanting a more capable machine than the 2305 then I would strongly recommend taking a good look a the 2520 instead of the 2320. If you're simply wanting the above things I mentioned... then the 2320 should serve you well over the 2305.
I went from a 2210 to a 2520 and back to a 2305... :) Have fun... and be sure you think of ALL your future uses... Very few owners ever buy a tractor to big.... but many later regret buying a bit to small.

Thanks for the insights. It seems you agree to some extent that I will get a few benefits in the 2320 over the 2305 . .and can probably get the jobs done I need . .maybe a little slower. It's easy to make the jumps in price . .as you said . . and justify them . . but I have to keep a grip on my reality. I've already pushed my envelope past my initial 2305 estimates . .so I should quit at the 2320.

I'm sure I'd be happier with a 2520 . .but probably don't NEED one. If I progess in the world of tractors and uses . . who knows . . I'll probably be looking at the 3xxx's in 2 years . .

Thanks for the help.

There you go.... sounds like you've got it figured out. Be sure you do get a test drive in (on your property if possible) just to be sure. The 2320 will be a sweet machine for you.... AND be sure you post lots of pics ;) Enjoy....

Thanks for the support. Unfortunately, they will only let me drive them around the parking lot . .and no loader workout on material . .only movements. And they don't have rental units other than the 4000 series . . .so I'm a bit blind. But from everything I've read here, owners of ALL the 2000 series JD's LOVE them and keep commenting about how surprisingly strong these little tractors are. . . so I'm sure I'll be happy!

Yep... I'm sure you'll be happy as well. You would find that any of the 3 machines are more than capable of handling most tasks. Sleep well and welcome to TBN... :)

So you're saying that the 2520 is just better . . or that the 2320 will do no better with my needs than a 2305? (And that 2305 is definitely not up to the task?)

if you need the larger cutter and it does sound like you do, then I would definitely go with the 2520.

Overall, you list 3-point implements as a major player for use and I would clearly eliminate the 2305, but I would strongly consider the 2520 if you are set on running a 5' implements, because you may be greatly dissapointed in the performance of 18 PTO hp at the speed you want to cut.

I am still tossing and turning on that. I don't want to end up with an almost useless tool to save a few thousand.

If money wasn't an issue, I would def get the 25. It's just that for $22+ K cdn for tractor and loader alone, I start to think I'm way out of my comfort zone for my use. If I had income from farming . .it would be easier to stomach.

Have you looked at used 2520's. Seems those can be had with low hours within the price range you shoooting for.
