They want residential so pull the permits to build a small residential structure. Then get the 40 ft container for 'temporary storage' during the construction. Tractor is one of construction tools for site prep that has to stored in the container. So what if it take you 20-30 year to complete the residential build.

I know folks around here that rent 2-3 acres to local farmer to grow hay, etc. They also pay same farmer same amount to maintain the fields. The amount going back and forth is just enough 'farming income' to keep the agriculture classification and the lower taxes.

This has crossed my mind. As much as a way to get through a loophole but also because I actually do want to build a house there and take my time doing it.

Get a mobile home axle, put it under the container and weld it to the bottom, it is now portable.

I really hate to suggest it, but an attorney might be able to assist you (one with experience in dealing with building depts, etc). OTOH, it is possible that you'd be throwing good money after bad.

Turns out Im not allowed to have a shipping container as it is considered an "accessory structure". I cannot have any variety of "accessory structure" without a primary structure, which is a residence. MFRS

Just do what it takes to disguise it as a residence and then call it a residence for your tractor. You could just attach windows/doors etc to the outside. Maybe even a shingled roof. Good luck.

Check on parking a registered trailer on your property. If its allowed, I might look at building a dock height ramp, then buying a trailer such as: Storage trailer van bodys - general for sale - by owner or 21 Dry Van 53' trailer - trailers - by owner - vehicle automotive sale and registering it in Maine.

Use 2x4x16 treated for the 'A' frame, attached to a 2x4x16 ridge pole, staked at the ground, cover with a camo tarp in a secluded area of the property. Don't say a word to anyone. If the Gov't meddlers hassle you over that, then this would be the best time to call an attorney for overstepping their authority.
