Alternative to grease tube II

Wait till you get your bulk filler, if I remember correctly, mine came with the nipple to fit the grease gun, I then took that nipple to NAPA and got one like it for my other grease gun. Happy greasing.

Thanks milkman. It should be here in a couple of days. I will checkk what comes in teh box. Either way it sounds like I need to buy a grease gun with the plug in it. I also though about driling and tapping a port on my cheapo grease gun but thought that would be too much bother for a grease gun plus I am not sure how thick the metal is and if it would take enough thread.

Can anyone guide me as to how to actually assemble this thing? It came without instructions. I assume that you fit the rubber gasket ring inside the hole of the thin metal top plate and then put that down on top of the bucket. then it seems you push the pump shaft down through it and secure it to the bucket with thumbscrews. Is that right?

My bulk filler arrived Friday. Today Saturday I tried to assemble it. It was missing parts.The tube that goes down into the bucket looks like a chop saw cut it in half! No Zerk for the grease gun and no extension do get to the bottom of a 5 gal pail. I went to about 6 auto parts stores including NAPA to try and locate a nipple for the grease gun [ I have two grease guns ] I did not locate any do you have a part number for the Zerk fitting for the grease gun ? I also didn't have any luck locating 5 gallons of grease? I sent an e-mail back to the seller asking for parts or another unit David

Here's a picture that might help, mine also had a follower disc that had a hole in the center that fits on top of the grease in the bucket, I put the follower disc in the bucket and pushed it down to get all the air from between it and the grease, then insert the tube of the filler pump through the hole in the follower disc in the bucket till the tube reached the bottom of the bucket, I then slid the cover down the tube to the top of the bucket and tighetned the thumb screws around the edge of the bucket, also tighten the clamp screw on the tube. Hope that helps.

David, hopefully they will send you a complet unit, I will get you the part # for the grease gun nipple when I go to town this week. When I got my bulk filler from Northern Tool a few years ago, it was missing a part and when I contacted them, they sent me another complete unit, hopefully your seller will do the same.

David, just returned from town, got the part # 715-1172 BK, the parts man said the BK is the manufacturer and the parts man would know that. The book he was looking in also had the pictures of several parts including the follower plates that go on top of the grease to pull it all down the sides of he bucket as it is used. The 5gal pail of grease that I saw was at a Tractor Supply store (TSC). Hope you get it working.

I was looking up lube grease on the Internet. Seems like they call it a 35 gallon pail [ 5 gallon container ] I don't know much about the quality of grease so I found this web site on grease classifications David.
