Thanks, I saved that for reference, here's a good thread on grease also http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/oil-fuel-lubricants/101913-bulk-grease-choice.html#post1169419 if you have a problem finding the nipple for your grease gun, measure the receptacle in the blk filler and I'll see what I can do, couple of bucks for a bubble mailer and I think the nipple was ~$5.

David, just returned from town, got the part # 715-1172 BK, the parts man said the BK is the manufacturer and the parts man would know that. The book he was looking in also had the pictures of several parts including the follower plates that go on top of the grease to pull it all down the sides of he bucket as it is used. The 5gal pail of grease that I saw was at a Tractor Supply store (TSC). Hope you get it working.

I'm glad you put that in. I went to three NAPAs and they had no idea what the part I was looking for was. Finally I just guessed and ordered two of these from NAPA online just 5 minutes ago. The part that didn't seem to make sense is that in their catalog that part number specifically said "except Lincoln guns" at the bottom of the listing.

I was looking up lube grease on the Internet. Seems like they call it a 35 gallon pail [ 5 gallon container ] I don't know much about the quality of grease so I found this web site on grease classifications David.

I know it was just a typo but those are 35 pound pails.

does any one know if this will work on a 45lb/6gal pail? I am planning on getting a bucket of dp's grease

Mine is setting on a 35# pail of grease, that is 14" tall and my tube is touching the bottom. I have 2" of tube sticking above the top that is still usable, you can loosen the band and slide the cover up, so if the 45# pail is not over 16" tall on the inside, it should work fine.

I hope to hear back in a year or so from those who are rushing back to what most of the rest of us got away from 30 years ago. I wouldn't handle grease that way if the hardware came free along with a $50 gift certificate to Hooters. You guys think cartridges are a messy PITA........................

I'm with RickB. I'm no expert, but I can't see enough saving in messing about with anything other than grease cartridges unless I was I mega high volume user with many machines to service.

on the box it handles 25-50 lb buckets. tobad my instructions ran for it... :/

Rick the grease im getting is 320 for a pak of tubes 240 for the bulk makes a tad of difference to me...
