Re: Am i still a man if I don\'t own a pickup truck?
You have indicated that money is an issue. You also indicated your desire for a deck.
Bob,
See Bill's response about having a truck in his post above. Since I've got use of a van and trailer at my disposal, I'm leaning towards selling the truck.
As I've mentioned in the past, I have a job that makes me miserable (even though I've VERY thankful for the income it provides), and I like to spend the time away from there with as many friends as possible. Spending time with friends and family tends to uplift your spirits when you're feeling down, and after having get-togethers at other's homes, I thought it would be nice to do the same at our home. (Maybe a TBN party someday in the future?) Which brings us to the deck!
If you keep the truck, can you afford to finance the deck? And if you do finance the deck materials, would you consider the finance charges a wise use of your funds?
Financing the deck is not an option. Except for the basics (house payment, car payments at 3.75%, tractor payment at 0%), we have no debt. We don't use credit cards for anything, and if we do, they are immediately paid in full. Home improvement projects are completed as we are able to save the money for them. I figured if I'm not going to use it, I might as well sell the truck, and build something that will give me satisfaction constructing it and give my wife and I and our friends and family years of use. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
