Amazon delivery schedule

I just ordered a tap and die that are skipped in my set. The estimated time of delivery is Friday, Oct. 18. That's the same estimated time of delivery I've gotten on everything I've ordered for the last few days. For one order it was eight days away. Does anyone here know what determines Amazon's delivery date. When they could get through after Helene, things were arriving much faster it reminded me of the Christmas week delivery speed.

Seems there POS system says your product is at X,Y or Z warehouse (or vendor) and it should take X days for that particular item to get to your door.

Wife ordered stuff Friday. Arrived today (Sunday)
Some people don’t pay attention to the estimated delivery date on the sales page, and just assume everything is 1-3 days.
Some people just assume everything ships from/through Amazon.
Sometimes the cheapest is 7-10 days but if you dig deeper you’ll commonly find other vendors for a buck or two more with 3-5 day shipping

I made a mistake when I said that one scheduled delivery was eight days away. It was actually Friday to Friday. The one I thought was eight days away is expected on Thursday. They seem to be shooting for seven days at most and often do much better.

I thought all of the trucks might be delivering in Florida where people are in much worse shape than we are. IMHO Amazon did well by us in our time of crisis.

Yes, I'm a Prime member. It saves some hassle.

I'm amazed at how quickly stuff arrives these days!
I think ahead for my needs,and delivery times astonish me.
Several decades ago-no comparison!

I never saw anything shipped by Amazon delivered longer than 2 days. If it is Amazon marketplace, it is a different story, the sellers have their own schedule. I recently found a great deal on an item, but the delivery was 2 weeks because it was not shipped by Amazon. I could buy the same thing for 20% more delivered by Amazon next day, but since it was not urgent, i saved 20%

A lot depends on what warehouse closest to you residens has product, occasionally overnight, or 5 days... Or provider is small online store selling through Amazon.... Also depends on if they have local PRIME van or its shipped via UPS, DHL, FEDEX or USPS and god forbid ONTRAC....

My daughter lives close to a major city, she can get same day delivery if it’s something common and it comes in an Amazon truck. We live near a smaller city and everything usually comes US mail. It also depends on if it’s coming from Amazon or a third party vendor. Something like a tap and die probably comes from a third party and would take longer.

We have had Prime for many years now, first got it mainly for the free two day shipping, now it also is for streaming. Prime two day was good for many years, now however our shipping seems to take about a week on average for any order to arrive. And after talking with our UPS driver it may not be Amazon that is the hold up, he told me UPS is now scheduling certain areas to be delivered on certain days of the week to help control costs. Which is funny to me when I have seen three different trucks drive by the house on the same day, seems they would do better if they watched what they were doing when loading the trucks. Plus we had the same driver for years until he retired, now we have 3 or 4 or 5 different drivers. Seems to me keeping one guy/gal on a route who is familiar with an area would be better for efficiency.

I agree, some items show up quick and others in a week or more. Its not as good or consistent as it once was. Prime streaming has really gone down and all we see is commercials now.

I have yet to figure out the best way to consistently close out FreeVee presentations I don't like without watching a commercial.

My daughter lives 8 miles south of me and that puts here home in Amazon Massachusetts service zone.
My home, 8 miles north of my daughter’s, gets serviced from the New Hampshire warehouse.
Daughter’s delivery usually 2 days and sometimes less!!!
My delivery invariably is 3 days or more.

All but one of the items estimated to arrive on Friday came today. I used to get a notice they were coming sooner than the original estimate. If one came this time, I missed seeing it.

My Amazon package was sitting down by the road this morning instead of being delivered to my house by UPS. My mailman told me he saw delivery packages sitting by the road everywhere on his route this morning.
