Amazon delivery schedule

Yes, I'm a Prime member. It saves some hassle.
Not me, IMO, total waste of money. When I order anything from Amascon I'm never in a hurry to get it anyway.

I will say if the item is in stock at the Amazon warehouse, it's under a week usually and the warehouse is about 30 miles from here but if it's a 3rd party selling on Amazon, it usually takes longer but again, I'm in no hurry. If I need something ASAP, I go up town and buy it.

Life is too short to get in a hurry and certainly too short to pizz money away on Amazon Prime.

Their delivery dates seem to be accurate for the most part. USPS on the other hand lies all the time.

I just ordered a tap and die that are skipped in my set. The estimated time of delivery is Friday, Oct. 18. That's the same estimated time of delivery I've gotten on everything I've ordered for the last few days. For one order it was eight days away. Does anyone here know what determines Amazon's delivery date. When they could get through after Helene, things were arriving much faster it reminded me of the Christmas week delivery speed.
it depends upon if the item is in stock at the closest Amazon warehouse to you. sometimes items have to be shipped from another Amazon facility or the items manufacture or distributor.

Long shot, but Amazon has a delivery option where you pick which day of the week you want delivery. Maybe that somehow became your default setting? (Happened to me.)

I live near the fifth-largest city with the nation's second-busiest port, and I have no idea when things will show up.

I've learned that if they say it's delayed that it's best to cancel and immediately reorder, because "delayed" is Amazon speak for lost.

Unless you're looking for single-use items when it comes to fasteners and machine tools I'd prefer to go to McMaster-Carr. Amazon has a nasty habit of allowing Chinese knock-offs or fakes to be sold. Stories abound about buying things like hardened bolts and receiving unmarked items of questionable quality.

There are a million vendors on Amazon. Most of them have their products at every Regional Warehouse so their delivery time is very short. Some vendors only have the national warehouses, so their delivery time is a little longer. And a few vendors (typically those that generally don't have high production volumes) keep them at their own warehouse, and they have the longest delivery times.

Amazon said 2 day delivery. On delivery day at 4:30 I got a message saying driver could not access my front door. Gate was open, daylight ? Delivery was rescheduled. They still use sub contractors for some deliveries. These people are not always competent.

I just finished going round & round with a service rep about an order that has arrived and its tracking last updated 12 days ago. It was showing shipped and in transit and Amazons order page kept showing delayed in shipping. I told the rep it had to be lost after no tracking updates after 12 days even though she insisted, several times, it was just held up and I kept asking, "where"?

Anyway they finally shipped a replacement order that with my Prime 2 day shipping I will get in 9 days according to the order page.

I'm from the "upper center, lower upper, eastern center" portion of Arkansas 😂😁🤣 (ref to your location). We don't believe we are out in the middle of nowhere; however, we think the barn is there - and we can see the barn from the front porch! That being said, UPS decided we only need delivery out here 3x/week and since Amazon ships UPS to us that doesn't help either.

But, back to your question. If you have Prime make sure you don't have a "Preferred Shipment Day" or something like that. If you live in an area like we do, start complaining to Amazon. I usually start off the chat by stating the obvious. Why should I be paying the same for my Prime membership as somebody that gets same day, next day delivery when it typically takes my orders a week before they are even shipped? I'm usually told that it's because my "preferred" warehouse is out of stock on the item I ordered - I state I never setup a preferred warehouse and would like to change it to a warehouse that they typically ship from, but they say I can't change it and that they can't tell me which warehouse is preferred for my location. When I press them as to why it took a week to ship the item(s) from the other warehouse they typically say they will note that in my account and it won't happen again (or at least, it seems, not until my next order)! My hope is that by the time I have to renew my prime I can convince the powers to be to comp or greatly reduce my membership fee for next year, we'll see what happens. I've been told (by UPS driver) that Amazon is starting up their delivery service in Jonesboro (about 80 miles away - Little Rock is around 130) that will be servicing the towns around here. As mentioned earlier, currently, Amazon contracts out deliveries to us via UPS.

This may not work, but at the very least, it makes me feel better.

I’m in the Helene disaster area, but most things are back to normal south of Asheville. Looking at ordering some things yesterday everything is October 28 which seems very odd. Amazon distribution center 15 miles up the road. One item said October 28 if I order within the next six days. So if I order today it’s October 28 and if I order next Saturday, it’s October 28, not sure what’s going on.

What was the pick up date? Is that an option for You?

I have learned in my area that means they had too many stops and ran out of time.
Then it takes 24 to 48 hours to show up.

They don't seem to have a "I won't make it today" button.

If you look at the "area" with the price it should have the possible day to deliver if you "buy it in the next what ever hours". It varies quite a bit as it depends on if it ships from the seller or Amazons warehouse and which one. There are multiple sellers of the same product so I've gotten better at finding the products that have a faster delivery.

I don't live in a larger city so I don't have the option to just run down to my local store to get what I need. The stores in my area seems to have gone to the "On Time Delivery's" (they don't carry much in stock) or only carry the popular items that sell the most. When it takes a week or two for the store to order you something then why wouldn't I get online.

I've gotten deliveries at night from Amazon. One just last night. I've also had some deliveries that were postponed but it's typically a busy route. I see some tracking status notes like "You're 9 stops away" or something like that. Otherwise, I pretty much get my stuff on time but maybe it's because I order on an average of 30+ times a month. Here's this month's tally. 😲

I never saw anything shipped by Amazon delivered longer than 2 days. If it is Amazon marketplace, it is a different story, the sellers have their own schedule.
My experience has been just the opposite...for the most part 3rd party vendors are fairly prompt, but stuff AZ ships from their own warehouses is all over the place, though it's pretty rare to get anything in less than 5 days. A few vendors use UPS, but most orders are USPS.
Most orders I make don't even get processed for 24-48 hr.

I have yet to figure out the best way to consistently close out FreeVee presentations I don't like without watching a commercial.
We watch quite a bit of Freevee, and I haven't found the commercials all that intrusive, certainly not like some of the other streaming channels...rare for a commercial break to be more than a minute, and often times less. Compare that to the History channel with 6 or 7 ads per break.

I don't have prime. Didn't consider it worth the money when it was $70something/year, certainly not worth twice that.

I can't think of anything I have ordered from Amazon that arrived in less than a week. When I lived in NJ there were 6 massive warehouse that were within 15 miles from my house and still, at least a week to get something and that was with Prime too.
At least I didn't have to pay shipping on top of all the wait times.
I get my money's worth from Prime now. I order a specific cereal I like for breakfast. Amazon price is cheaper than supermarkets and it takes a week to get here. I purposely order one box at a time so they pay the shipping.

Oaktree,
I think your not having Prime is the reason your warehouse shipments sometimes take longer than those from third party vendors.
Quite often after ordering through Prime I get a notice that I've saved something over nine dollars on shipping. With my number of purchases and some other benefits I think I'm coming out ahead. Even though your evaluation is different from mine, it's helping me understand how the company works. Thank you.

I don't think so.
As I said above, I have Prime, and I had a load of warehouses within 1/2 hr drive.

The link below has information regarding which items can be delivered as early as the same day ordered. Had I found it sooner, I might not have started this thread.
