Amsoil???

Depends who you ask. :)

Bob is the oil guy is, I believe, a distributor for them, which explains why his site has tests indicating Schaeffer's stuff works better than Amsoil.

If price is no object, PM Dieselpower and see what he can set you up with. I'm sure the stuff he sells (from TRC) is excellent, and appreciate his numerous informative posts here. Otherwise just pick which brand/color you like better and go with it...

Yep, when it comes down to it like you say "pick a brand/color you like better and go with it...". My unbiased opinion (unbiased as it can get) as a lube consultant for a competitor of Amsoils is, do some research, ask your lube rep questions and pick your favorite flavor. When it comes to premium not off the shelf oils Amsoil, Schaeffers, Red Line, Royal Purple, LC or who I'm with TRC the are all premium oils. Often times what will lead a person to one or the other is the level of technical help a rep can supply. In many cases there may be numerous types of lubricant you can use for a single application, some better than others. A knowledgeable and experienced lube rep will be able to describe the differences and which one is best for your application and why. If your rep isn't asking you a boat load of questions about the equipment, how it is used, what environment it is used in, what condition it's currently in and what your looking for look elsewhere. Personally I don't care if someone is looking to buy one pail or multiple tanker truck loads of oil, their all customers and all deserve the same amount of time and consideration. How am I to know whether that guy only buying a single pail today may have a huge fleet some day and remember the time I spent with them. Use your lube reps, that's what their there for whether some like it or not.
