Amsoil???

I always try to use the best there is. Amsoil may be just that but with their multi-level marketing arrangement you can never be sure because of the natuaral bias of opinion such arrangements foster. And I'm not going to do the work of testing it myself or whatever. Mobil 1 works just fien for me.
If it works for them, fine, but the marketing deal suggests to me a slick way of inducing people to buy the product.
Even if it were the best I would llikely refuse to purchase solely because of that situation and the natural caution it creates. Just my two cents.

I would suggest anyone interested go to bobistheoilguy.com and look in the forums for UOA results from various oils in various vehicles and other engines. I found it very interesting. Not surprisingly, all name brands work fine, some just seem to work a little better than others.

Here we go again with the anti-Amsoil attacks. There are certain individuals that just seem to have a hatred for AMSOIL and will do everything to discredit the products and the company.



AMSOIL introduced the world first API rated synthetic motor oil to the automotive public in 1972. Since then, every major motor oil manufacturer has followed AMSOIL lead and has introduced synthetic oils of their own. AMSOIL synthetic motor oils exceed the most demanding worldwide performance standards.

AMSOIL has been selling synthetic oil for over 37 years. How does a company the size of AMSOIL's (tiny in comparison to giants like Mobil and Shell and the like) continue to grow in such a competitive industry unless their products do what they say?

Not everyone cares for AMSOIL's marketing strategy, that is their choice. Amsoil has worked hard to establish the solid reputation they have. They test their products against all competitors, and they are not afraid to show the results. What other company publishes the kinds of comparison testing AMSOIL publishes? How do they avoid any FTC warnings or judgments against them if their products don't live up to the claims?

I for one am not attacking Amsoil. I like there oils (and use them) but there marketing is a little bias. Amsoil's (not AMSOIL) tests also do not compare apples to apples; that is a fact. Ask people in R&D / technical how many people can do 25K on an oil and how they came up with it?

Amsoil has a great company and they HAD to come up with a select few products so that were API cert'd since people have some weird thing of it.

Again I trust their tests like zero and the dealers almost as much. They have gotten better but when anyone can PAY to be a dealer and have no idea on oils is a poor way to sell. Since again most dealers have no clue on the products they push.

You cannot use someone elses UOA to how it would work in your engine, driving.....

Ummm, why not? I'm not talking about one single person's UOA one time. I'm talking about people who are a lot more obsessive than us posting here, doing UOA's every change, time after time and posting results. The forum postings there cover nearly all vehicles and brands of oil you could think of. I'm not saying that because Fred gets 6700 miles on brand ABC oil and has a TBN of 2 at that point that it means I can go 6700 miles on ABC oil and have the same result. I'm saying that it gives you a reasonable, empirical basis for comparing different oils and engines. I have read a lot of UOA's on there for several major brands of oil and think I can make some reasonable conclusions, notably (1) there isn't all that much difference between brands or cars (!!), and (2) having said that, some brands do appear to do a little better than others. Go read for yourself and reach your own conclusions.

Get them from BITOG site? Site has gone, well, not what it was when Bob had it. If you know how SPC, quality, 6-sigma works, FOS, MTBF etc, you can have 2 of the same engines, same model years, same make and have the UOA of both engines not even close using same oil. I know, I did it. Nevermind driving habits, enviro conditions, and so on....

Being you sell oils, you should have your OWN UOA if you sell the stuff. This is what I mean. Amsoil dealers should be required to provide UOA of their own engines to show how good it is. Do not use someone else UOA or some forum to show how it works, use yours....<sad>

I know when I was a dealer my upline were reading from books and did not know anything on oils.

2) You say that the UOA results for one car are not "even close" for another identical car, then you go on to say that any Amsoil dealer should provide UOA for their own vehicle's engines. What purpose would that serve if the UOA for one 2003 Buick is totally irrelevant to what the UOA would be on different, but identically equipped, 2003 Buick?

Frank, it sounds like you have some bone to pick with Amsoil. I don't know why, nor do I really care. I am a satisfied customer of Amsoil, not a shareholder or dealer for them. I also use oils from many other companies, often depending what's on sale and has a rebate, etc.

2) To show how it works for him/her and WHY they think it works. If you sell it, show it.....and not from some forum that means zero...

I do not have anything with Amsoil. I think Amsoil is a great product and is always getting better. So you are incorrect. I do feel, as noted before, their marketing is poor along with other areas.
