Terry,
Did you just put a hydraulic top link on, or did you add a hyd. side line also?

It seems there is some sort of tech issue getting my photos to post properly from out here on The Galactic Rim... I can't seem to edit the existing post either...

So here are the photos in question, in their own post:

Hi Brandi! How's every little thing?

The "Hydraulink" is a self-contained hydraulic toplink that allows you to quickly adjust the length, it is NOT a hydraulic system that can lift a load...

I use it on my box-blade and forks.... It allows me to adjust the angle of the forks or blade from the seat of the JD870... I just turn around and twist the valve...

It also allows me to leave the valve wide open and use the box blade in a sort of "Full Float" mode... I leave my rippers in the highest position where they can still contact the ground if I tip the box forward and then I can continuously adjust the angle of the blade to rip, pick up or dump by using the lift lever... gotta go slow when you engage the rippers tho or the tines will grab as the box rolls forward, slam into full retract and try to toss you out of the seat...

Slow is careful, careful is fast, fast is good...

It sounds complicated but in practice it is a lot faster than having to manually adjust the screw-type link every time you wish to change the depth and type of cut...and at $185, it beats the crap out of the $500 or so it would take to put a true rear hydraulic outlet and toplink on the tractor.

There is a good video on the use of the gizmo here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E9Q3cgImK8

And it is available at Surplus Center:

When I saw the simple design... it's just a hydraulic cylinder with a valve between the top and bottom chambers, I tried to see if I could duplicate it with materials available at the local salvage yard and found it was cheaper to just buy it...

So far, it has been a good investment...

And now...how are things going on YOUR little piece of Heaven?

BE SAFE OUT THERE...

Terry,
Life is good. I have no complaints. Unless it is having to acquire patience again with my new puppy. She is a 6 month old Australian Cattle Dog (or Heeler) I adopted from the County Animal Shelter.100_7285.jpgBlue Bell 001.jpg

I am also enjoying my Grand daughter. She is 16 months old.11-11-14 Chloe Cuddle Bunny.jpg

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Oh yeah...........that is a Ben Franklin stove. We had one when the kids were little.
hugs, Brandi

Sorry to hijack this thread for a minute. But I have always been partial to puppies asymmetrical ears, and that's the first picture I've seen of your Grand-daughter in a while.......She's just too cute for works.

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours.

Really enjoyed the update, Terry. I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering when you would be posting again. In the meantime and with the words uttered every episode by the late Hill Street Blues character, Sergeant Phil Esterhaus (Michael Conrad), "You be careful out there".

Hey there Brett!!

I would love to do a little visiting but once I have my head down into the work I just get consumed... You really know you are doing something you love when you look up and the day is gone and suddenly the whole house is plumbed or the thought of digging post holes does not fill you with dread...

I am very remiss in my social obligations... just one of those things I've got to work on...

And its nice to know you are still kicking too, BTW!!!

Charlie,
I love the lop ear also. Booger was a lop ear also. Booger could, as the puppy can, perk both ears straight up when they hear a noise they can't quite detect the whereabouts of detected noise.

Thanks! Chloe is a cutie. I had to get a new PC processor and have been out of the photo uploading and downloading business for a few weeks. Last night I printed a 8.5 inch by 11 inch photo of the one above and framed it. I'll give it to Rebecca day after tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to Y'all and everyone here.
hugs, Brandi
