I have yet to find any decent shut-Off valves. I tried Briggs & Stratton brand and all five of them leaked. I can't have a leaky valve dripping in the garage or on the exhaust when running. I have tried several brands and none work well or long term.

The oil would have had gas in it, didn't you check the oil before starting it???

I use to hate the engines with a fuel tank below the carburetor. Always having problems with the fuel pump.

I guess it is just a case of pick your poison.

OUCH least you got some time before nor'easter comes a knocking to repair/replace.

Replaced the motor today, the last motor was run dry with non ethanol fuel and fogged before storage. Filled this year with new fuel. At start up the float must have been stuck open and just dumped fuel into the cylinder. Did not check the oil first as it was well gone over last spring.
