Awesome, awesome awesome. What a time saver huh?

Oh without a doubt! That's the whole reason I built it.. I didnt "need" any of this.... Coulda just payed someone to regrade my property, but what fun would that have been?

I picked this bucket up last night for a whopping 40 bucks. The original Blackhawk loader had a 50" bucket. Mine was only 41". This bucket came off of an old little skid steer and measures 53" wide. It is in good shape except the bottom is rotted from sitting so long. A piece of sheet 53"x12" will make it like new. It weighs just Over 200lbs, but once I remove all the quick attach stuff it should be closer to 150ish. I'm going to remove the welded on teeth and make up a removable tooth bar so I can use the bucket for many tasks, and probably use three of the teeth for my front hoe project.

did a little work on the bucket this week... cut out the rotted metal, cut off the welded on forged teeth, traded a 12 pack or Coors Light for the 10 gauge steel for the new bottom of the bucket. I started welding it back in, but just been working on it here and there at work as I have time. Should have it done sometime next week. I also found a piece iof 60" long 3/8"x3" flat stock that I'll use as the removeable tooth bar. I'll have to get that on a brake so its fits nice.

Wow, you do excellent work! I am sure that your new bucket will be sweet! I wish I had removable teeth for the bucket on my skid steer but I think having two buckets would be best since the smooth edged bucket is perfect for the grading projects I have done.

Hi Steve,

Great project.

On your bench you have this power saw..

We don't seem to have anything like that in the UK and I can see many uses for it, an probably cheaper to use than a 9" disc cutter. Can you who makes them and what model you have, or some links to similar on line please?

What's the down sides?

Thanks in advance

It is a portable band saw. i believe Milwakee was the first to make the Porta-band. This one was just a cheap made in china piece I picked up at Harbor Freight tools about 10 years ago. The blades that Harbor freight sells seem to last a really long time and are about 20 bucks for 3. I've tried a bunch of other brands of blades, and haven't found a better blade for money.

Only downside i see is it needs a deeper throat, it is sometimes hard to cut non flat things.

I've had it for years, and ended up buying a Milwakee after I wore this one out. I also do alot more work than an average DIY person would use it. its cut anything from thin sheet metal to 2" solid bar. For the money, I was throughly impressed and wouldn't ever think of comparing it or using a 8-9 disc cutter instead. but like many tools, it has it limitations, but for what it is designed for, it is kick butt for the money!

here is a link to the harbor freight model, like i said it is a good "cheap" unit. But a milwakee or makita is alot more heavy duty. they are about 300 bucks though.

I've been thinking of a portable bandsaw off and on for a while. I recall seeing one somewhere that also included a stand allowing it to function similarly to a chop saw.

You can get a stand for a Milwaukee.
