Something else you might consider - Keep your current JD to mow with and buy a larger 30-40 HP tractor without a mower for heavier work. You're have a much better choice of implements that way and a much handier and cheaper to operate mower for your yard...

thanks JSharp. i did consider that and i still am but i was wanting to have it all in one machine. i want my tractor to do it all. reasons- 1:budget 2:maintenance 3:being able to keep it in the garage 4:and to justify getting it. thanks again.

1*I've got less in 3 tractors than some people have in 1 or 2 tractors so it fits my budget.
2*I don't have to change fluids and filters any more with 3 tractors than I did with one tractor .300 hours is 300 hours wheather it's on 1 tractor or split berween 3 tractors.
3*I've got 12 garage stalls so that's not a problem for me.
4*It's the arrangement I wan't-the money's there-that justifies it for me.

*That's a tall order.
It's pretty hard to find a one size fits all tractor.
2 works better and 3 covers it even better.

I had trouble with a trailer I bought in Minnesota and tried to get license for it in Illinois. What a disaster that was. By the time I got all the paper work completed it was about a month. In Illinois when you buy something out of state and you don't pay sales tax on it they make you pay what they call a road use tax to drive the vehicle on state roads. I argued that I was already paying use taxes with every gallon of gas I bought. No matter, I paid the road use tax which just happened to be the same as the Illinois state Sales Tax. Not to cry wolf, but if this tax burden does not stop somewhere the average person will not be able to live in their home.

Maybe he is just trying to get his post count up, so he is replying to every post he can?
Since he is a newbie, with that being his second post, it would seem that a little bit of latitude would be in order. Maybe he was considering an out of state purchase for others would be as problematic for others as much as it was for him, since the tax collectors are going to try to get to you anyway they can, even if you don't operate it on the roads.
