Did you ever get your Netgear problem resolved? I had a similar problem, and as one of the other members mentioned, it turned out to be a configuration issue....telling the router the MAC Address of the 'generic' wireless adapter, also, if your running Zone Alarm, you have to tell it the address of your router is to be trusted.
