I use a laptop for work. Attached to it I have an Asus "Signature Pad" monitor that connects via USB-C : USB-C.

At home, I add a third monitor and this is a normal desktop that uses an HDMI port on the laptop. Having an extra monitor for space, (when I'm at the worksite) would REALLY help.... so got to looking, thinking and now, wondering.

I might buy a second "Signature Pad" however, it requires a USB-C input. My laptop only has a free HDMI. If I get a Hdmi-USB-C cord, will that pass power and of course, the video, through to the signature pad? If it won't my idea really won't work without complicating things with other wires.

If I had a HDMI-USBC I'd just try on what I have but I don't and since it's on my mind, thought I'd ask.

If you could add the brand and model of the laptop, particularly the graphics option would help answer your question. Not every graphics option can drive two external monitors plus the main screen.

If it were me, I would buy a USB-C hub and drive everything through the hub, and I would make sure that the hub had enough power.

All the best,

Peter

The HDMI to USB-C will not power the monitor because there is no power coming out of the HDMI port of the laptop.
