Another JD vs Kubota question

I would get the Deere.:)

For me, the rocker pedal Kubota uses would be more difficult than the two pedals the JD uses.

I disagree completely with this opinion, and granted mine and G-W-be are just that, opinions so here's mine. I came from a JDX485 to a BX. The JD had the side by side forward/reverse pedals and unless I looked down, I very often tapped the reverse instead of the forward pedal. I owned the machine less than a year so maybe I would have gotten use to it, but never did in that time period. And with the mower kill switch in reverse, it drove me nuts when I just tapped that pedal by mistake and cut off the PTO. With the BX, what could be more natural than step forward to go forward, step back to go in reverse.

There are no lock out or back up swithes to worry about on 2305 unless they just came out with it this model yr. I will diagree alsoabout the pedals if you couldn't get to side by side how can you get use to using the rocker one on Kubota .
Seems like you would always be putting tractor in forward or rev by mistake if just setting there. I know that would hurt my ankle I had broken yrs ago. just rocking my foot back and forth
also if buying a fel loader or front plow or using the hyd line for mmm why would you what to sit with your arm stretched out about all the way (on MF or Kubota) when you can sit with your arm by your side and use fel,or frt blade or mower.

So I went to the Kubota dealer today to look at a nice barely used BX24 and of course the guy before me ended up buying it.

So now they walk me over to the new BX25. All shiney and pretty. Lets me sit on it and play with the gadgets.

After I was done salivating, they took me in to talk prices.

The machine with the backhoe attached came out in the high 16K and add on some taxes.

The used '06 BX24 sold for 13.5k and now I find myself considering the new one and paying the extra three thousand after they told me it would be 0% financing for 3 or 4 years. What ever I wanted.

Forced myself to walk out with the paperwork in hand to think it over for a week.

On the way home I figured I'd stop at the John Deere dealership. Same sized machine, JD 2305 with 200CX CP loader and 260 backhoe and with the three pt. hitch (that the BX25 didn't have) and extras (some sort of easy quick hitch connection features and ballast kit) added up and total was only $1000 more than the Kubota.

I had anticipated JD being at least 2k more.

So if I want the 3 pt. hitch for the Kubota the difference is really around $700 I am guessing.

With all this being said, would you consider paying the extra for the John Deere?

Or do you think Kubota has a better quality machine?

Does anyone know what differences there might be?

Thanks again for the help you guys bring.
Don,t limit yourself to only 2 choices.I would also look at new holland, massey, kioti and a few others.IMHO,what to look for is a dependable tractor with great sales and service and what ever fits your needs the best.coobie

I know what you are goin thru. I had settled on an orange tractor, from resarching this and other forums, talking to Kub owners, etc. Looked for used ones in the BX size, most were 12500 - 14000 for 2 to 4 year old ones. But wound up with a green one,2305 brand new. Got it from a dealer 40 miles away-local green guys(15 miles) wanted 500 MORE for a 2 year old ,200 hr 2305. The local Kub dealer wanted 6000 MORE for a 1 year old BX24 than what I paid
One thing I really like - and mentioned by someone else- is the loader control right at your side. No lifting arm to reach it,just move hand to right and its there. plus the lock out for control,so if need loader to keep at a set point cant accidentally hit stick and drop whatever you are lifting. dont know if Kub has that or not.
But this is my first TLB so time will tell if I made right choice.

As others have said, not getting a three point hitch will be a mistake. Whatever brand you get, make sure it has the 3PH!

I have the side-by-side pedals on my 4200 and the rocker pedals on my L130, and I like the side by side much better. Yes, I have on occasion tapped the reverse pedal accidentally with the 4200; but I find that style easier to control than the rocker pedal system.

There are a number of Deere dealers to choose from in my area; though one outfit has pretty much of a monopoly on Deere along the Front Range and plains of Colorado. There are two Kubota dealers about equidistant from me. One is a pain to get to, and the other wouldn't give me the time of day when I was shopping. Be sure to factor in dealer support!

Ironically I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to do my research hence why I recently joined on here.

One thing I would like to know and something you might ask as well is: are there differences in costs for repairs and parts? For example I have a Volkswagen Jetta TDI and I can only buy the oil and filter from the dealership and no telling what the costs for parts will be when I need something repaired(knock on wood). So are foreign tractors the same?

You also still hear, "you are paying for the green paint". I've also heard that Kubota makes a better product. Of course both could be old adages that are no longer the case, but stick because unfortunately JD was over charging for a long while and Kubota was making a better product.

I highly recomend buying what ever makes you happy that has a dealer close by. There are so MANY opinions about what to buy and why. Some say nothing but JD. Others say Kubota because they have fewer problems (no facts of course) others say some lesser known brands because they are a better value...

Good Luck!

Both of the tractors that you are looking at are great machines. My personal choice would be the Bx, as I have owned a Bx23TLB. It was quite the tractor that could do it all, I was so pleased with that machine and the ability to do any task put in front of it. Oh, It was my understand and I have two Kubota's that the Three point hitch came with tractor, You need to make sure, ask Kubota.com.

Kubota changed from the rocker pedal to two separate forward / reverse pedals a while back (maybe with the BX24). The rocker mechanism is now under the floor board so you can rest your right foot in the available open floor space between the two - probaly over a foot apart. I find it very natural to step forward to go forward and step back with the heel to go backwards - very intuitive to me.

I would probably agree on the location of the joystick, though I've not tried the JD version. The Kubota joystick has a lock out as well.
