What kind of prices are you getting?

Oh Oh I smell a Kioti being thrown into this picture.

Swampguy, you should check out some of the other brands if there is dealers in your area. But my advice is stay with a dealer that is going to take good care of you after the sale.

Murph, the other day you hit the nail on the head. I like the 790 better, but feel the TC30 is more tractor. Yesterday I visited the Kubota dealer and found a L2800 for $14900ish, including the Kubota FEL. I can clearly see the difference in the 3pt arms, with the Kubota being much stronger. Again, this is really just a hobby tractor. I don't have to meet a deadline, so I can deal with slower. I had a JD mower for 13 years that is still running today. I bought a heavy duty cub because I wanted more deck and thought I'd give them a try. I won't run them down, but I'll never buy another. It really told me something about JD. Still, the L2800 looks like a sweet machine. The one thing I don't like about the Kubota loader is the location of the control lever. If only there was a perfect tractor!!! Actually, it is probably the JD990 for me, but the price is more than I want to spend. For the extra 5K I can get all the implements I want.

One question I have is about the Kubota backhoe. The dealer says anything but a Kubota brand hoe will void the warrentee if something breaks. If so, looks like I should pay the extra bucks for a Kubota.

If that is what the dealer says about the warranty then I would spend the extra money for it.

But reading your last post it looks to me like you starting to move to a more fancier tractor? If so check out the other New Hollands other than the TC30. I have the TC29D an older tractor but love the placement of the joystick, it is on the fender so you don't have to lift your arm to use. Yes you will pay more but there is other features our there on the other Boomers that you may just like. Remember you will have this for a long time. And check the other brands also. John Deere has some fancier rigs also in the range your looking for.

Good Luck

After looking for 6 months and heavily leaning towards a TC30 then L2800 I bought a Kioti ck30 hst. It was cheaper than the TC30 and just a tad higher than the Kubota but the Kioti isn't just a "bargain" tractor. It has more creature comforts. I like the extra weight as well. Also the financing was better. I was offered a geared CK30 for $15500 or the hydro for $16300 each with a loader.

For me it was after looking for 6 months and leaning first towards a TC30 and then a JD 790, I purchased a Kubota L2800 HST. The tractor is awesome, as is the dealer! He was ready to deal where the JD dealer wasn't and the NH dealer quoted me higher than list.

I'd give the Kubota L3400 a look. The geared version (DT) is a strong, simple, affordable machine.

The facts indicate that a TC30 is CONSIDERABLY more tractor than a 790. You've left out a number of particulars that drive pricing, like tires, transmission, etc.

For me, it would be an absoute no brainer.

I drove a TC30 quite a bit before I decided on the B7800 Kubota. I really liked that tractor except for the excessive engine vibrations (motor mounts were flimsy) ... For the money, the TC30 specs are hard to beat.

TIRES: R4s will NOT resist punctures better than R1s but they will load up and lose traction faster. R4s are meant to be a compromise providing a certain traction advantage over turf tires but less ground wear & tear than an R1 (ag).

The motor mounts on the TC30 were flimsy???????????

Not trying to persuade a purchase on any tractor here, the TC30 was actually my first choice, but I didn't like the axle housings of all things. Personally I could just see those narrow shafts getting wrapped up with tall grass or vines and ruining a seal etc. That probably doesn't happen to often but after getting into the different brands researching I found myself picking apart each tractor. I probably did more research on the different brands than I needed to. Go drive them and just see which one feels "right". I knew when i drove my Kioti it was over.

Although its been a while, I remember comparing the TC30 mounting blocks to a TC33 sitting next to it. The boomer ran MUCH smoother even though they have the same motor (diff in HP is thorugh port tuning I'm told). I remember noticing the difference in the grommets / mounts.

The TC30 machine vibrations were NOTICIBLY increased at idle. I found bumpin it up to about 1100 rpms found an acceptable harmonic, but that rumble at idle made an impression.

I would buy what you really want, it sounds like you want a 990. When I bought mine not too many tractors compared as far as HP for the dollar, stong dealer support plus the benefit & reliability of the Yanmar four. I shopped for about six months and wasn't sure about spending the money on a new tractor and when JD had the 0 interest for 3 years I jumped on it.
